I worked at office jobs where people were having affairs. I've worked at performing arts places (where a scandal erupted between two co-workers, neither of which were actors but worked in security-apparently didn't know where all the cameras were🙃) but the place where the biggest lines were crossed was when I worked in the tech sector, it was during the dotcom bubble and some people were out of control--it was as if there were no boundaries where propriety was concerned. Ever been on Wall Street? I remember interviewing for a job with a Wall Street firm and was warned by a woman who worked there about the behavior at the firm and in the industry.
In every industry, there are people who don't conduct themselves professionally, especially if they think the place where they work won't enforce guidelines or rules. Not that I'm saying that everyone who starts dating a co-worker is unprofessional but I just don't think this is unique to the acting profession, I think it stands out because these people are public figures to a certain extent. I don't think that actors are any more prone to cheat on their spouses than other professions where people (who may find each other attractive) spend huge amounts of time with each other. Then again, there are some men who don't want their wives going to work with good looking men are working and vice versa. In terms of the Shanice character, I doubt there is going to be much investment in a long-term relationship.
