Well, didn't they put out a book for the 45th anniversary? I mean, if the book is being released on April 4th, which is right around the time of the anniversary anyway (coincidence???? ), couldn't they at least have done a book about the show's history, instead of some random piece of fiction that has nothing to do with the show at all thus far?? I'm just concerned that the show is going to ignore its history during the anniversary....that's all!

Well lets face it. Most of the characters on currently with all soaps date back only to the 80s. And the ones who've been around longer had all their episodes taped over because they were too expensive to keep.

They did that Valentines episode back in 2002. I loved that ep.

Well, ATWT has always been different in that area, I think. Sure, several of the actors and actresses date back to the 80s, but many of the characters do as well, and there are some that have been around since the early 70s, just that they're now played by different people.

I still am amazed that characters like Dusty and Paul were around in the early 80s. And Barbara's been a part of the show since 1970. All three are major players on the show right now. Almost all of the characters on the show have some kind of tie back to at least the 70s.

From the new TV Guide, Logan Report:

ATWT: Scandals and Catfights and Bears, Oh My!

CBS' As the World Turns will turn 50 on April 2, but expect any staid homages. "Rather than embalm ourselves we're going to have fun," says exec producer Chris Goutman. "We're taking the history of ATWT and turning it upside down and sideways." He means that literally...

On April 3, the soap will air what Goutman laughingly calls "The Poseidon Adventure on wheels." It's a flashback-packed episode that has Oakdale's seven grandes dames taking a trip to Chicago. On the way back, their bus goes off the road and later flips over. There's a killer bear and a gas explosion but that's nothing compared to the battles among the stranded divas. "Their past feuds and rivalries are going to resurface," Goutman says. "All the old wounds will be opened."

In the same episode Lucinda will announce that she's publishing Oakdale Confidential, a scandalous--and anonymous--novel written by someone in town. What it reveals about Mike Kasnoff's secret past will shake up the show for months. Viewers can also read Confidential. Pocket Books will have it in bookstores April 4.

Five decades of sex, love and unplanned pregnancies get a send-up March 31 when the soap's teen set tries to sort out the complex Oakdale family trees for a school assignment. Their solution: Think of the various clans as characters in classic sitcoms. That'll have the ATWT cast spoofing everything from I Dream of Jeannie and I Love Lucy to The Beverly Hillbillies and The Munsters.

What is it with you and WorldTurnsatGH? LOL!!! :P:lol:

Everytime the name "Mike" is mentioned, you act all......."I hate Mike. Kill the character. Yadda yadda."

 What's so bad about Mike? I'm just in love with the character and I've tried seeing him how yall see him, but it's just not working. Mike is naturally a likeable character for me :D

    • I agree with you about rules & regs but, frankly, choosing between retirement & working uncredited, come on, we know what she'd choose & she'd be right to do so.
    • Hold up, hold up, hold up!!!   MADISON MONTGOMERY???   If a Zoe, Misty Day, and/or Queenie shows up...lol.
    • The Producers Guild of America (PGA), while not a union, does have rules and regulations regarding membership, conduct, and yes, credits. Assuming she’s a member of course. Being uncredited for what work exactly? Given her years of experience and multiple Emmy wins - why now decide you want to go uncredited for work you’ve done?
    • That's very sad. What party he represented for and which area he represented?
    • -- Daisy is a terrible name. If you're not going with a family legacy name, you gotta do better than that. -- When Frank is done with a character, he makes sure that character is painted in the worst possible way and the shade is thrown in the script. Natalia is being treated like a punchline to a bad joke....not that I mind. -- So Cody talked about Britt today. Gee, I wonder what's going on.
    • I remember another Phyllis residence -- I don't think that was a set shown abovethread, but I'm not sure.  Trying to remember some things off the top of my head but I might be wrong about part of it: I'm referring to the condo where Phick first had sex after the Michael/Lauren wedding.  I think they specifically referred to it as a condo?  After Stafford's Phyllis went into a coma, Jack sold it and I think he gave money to HunterKing's Summer when she married Austin? Or he gave Summer the condo?    There was a convoluted side plot about someone needing money and something from this was drawn in a shady way.  Something about it being sold?  And then when GinaT's Phyllis awoke from her coma, she had no condo to come back to.
    • Which union rules? SMH. Jill’s back, uncredited.
    • Yeah I don’t get why she wouldn’t be credited if she’s back. That seems odd. I hope it’s true though, because the show needs a change. Badddddd.
    • The casino scenes came out of nowhere in comparison to the rest of the week, but at least there was some movement in the storyline. Joey has really made a fool of Vanessa. Chelsea is really embarrassing herself with this doctor. The desperation is so obvious and she clearly gets that from Dani. Hayley was giving Donna Logan vibes because that is how Donna acted when Eric had a heart attack. Stealing potential evidence is not going to reflect well on Kat and might throw the case against Leslie. Tomas had no business in Eva's hotel room even if he did shut down her advances. But I think they still might end up together at some point because the book that Eva gave him is the same one Kat called basic which seemed like foreshadowing.
    • So Sharon decides not to go to France and stay behind to support Mariah, but now with Phyllis gloating about getting an invite I’m sure she’ll change her mind.    Mariah’s secret is that she screwed that old man? I’m so confused about what’s going on here, and Mariah coming out and telling Tessa that she can’t know her secret is supposed to do what exactly? Is that supposed to put Tessa’s mind at ease? Lol…. I’m getting Cameron Kirsten vibes though. Did he do something to her without her consent and things went too far? These writers really can’t come up with something original if their life depended on it
