HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Rhino I wish RC/FV never would have stepped foot on GH because then it would have BEEN FREAKING CANCELLED. Why don't you have some gratitiude the show is still getting all this buzz/acclaim and attention and is still on the air. That is a miracle in instelf. Honestly I don't think Ron/Frank are that upset OLTL is going on without them. They loved the show but they are getting paid more money on network TV plus GH is a bigger higher profile show then OLTL.

Honestly, GH's survival isn't my priority. It was never my show. OLTL is/was. I don't think Frank and Ron care anything at all about OLTL from what little I've seen of their work on GH.

Not Rhino, but that statment is false! GH is still on the air because ABCd Daytime miscalculated the reality shows in place or canceled. FRon have nothing to do with GH still being on air - Trust! If, for one second, ABC had a viable show to replace GH, you best believe we'd be waiving bye bye!

Now, imagine a real writer bringing back vets and penning GH? I'd be so happy, and I don't even need the damn vets (not all of them).

As for being grateful, I don't care what happens to THIS GH!

I could not disagree more if I tried. If they ever do a Trassions reboot, RC is your man, but serious soaps? He needs to stay far away. FAR FAR AWAY! Lifers are probably happy to have that hack gone. I envy them. Ron should go with the 3! Frank too!

I am very pleased that OLTL will have a fresh take from experienced writers. It's a gamble, but I'm hoping their writing will bring a fresh new creative vision. And I am also happy to have our OLTL characters back to remove them from RC's grasp. Perfectly to have Easton and Co. remain in whatever capacity Ron can come up with for them.

I think whether they're good showrunners or bad, they absolutely adore OLTL. They have made that clear time and again in word and deed. They just don't care about the couples. And that's their prerogative.

no GH is still on the air cause the ratings went up thanks to RC.

Let's keep to the facts now. You sure act like you care it's about all you talk about ;)

The facts are; had The Revolution survived, GH would have been toast. ABC does not care about GH or soaps, but they have nothing to replace it so they will keep it.

I love GH, but the current writing and characterizations are not what I want to see. I wish someone else were writing GH. I really do!

Interesting a PP exec said they weren't doing "arcs" but Bob Woods says they are.

Tell me again why I should trust PP ;)

Someone posted on another board that FL (Tea) says she does not believe this will actually happen.

IMHO, I think PP did this to retain the rights should they want to actually go thru with this, and I believe we might see some push backs with dates.

Woods was speaking about production. I believe the "we aren't doing arcs" comment was referring to story i.e. the telenovela model. Although frankly I would prefer that.

It wasn't a PP exec who said they weren't doing arcs, it was Thom Racina who told NB that. Although who knows how Nelson worded the question or if he correctly interpreted Racina's answer.

That said, I don't see how a 5 weeks on (taping at least two shows per day)/ 5 weeks off taping schedule shows that they are (or aren't) doing arcs or "books". That's a different matter. ETA: which Marceline just beat me to pointing out

Yes, that is my understanding as well. That way they can save on costs and use the same crew, etc....

They are alternating filming & may tape 2 shows every day which would mean in 5 weeks they could have as many as 50 episodes filmed which would give them 12 weeks of material to air

It makes me nervous that Woods comments that he says it's important to have the vets to "start" the show

"You need that to start, otherwise you just have a show that's called ONE LIFE TO LIVE and you turn it on and you go 'I don't know anybody.' So that couldn't work. But if you have Erika sitting there at her desk and Robin waltzing in, then you can go, 'Oh, okay! This is it. Sparks are gonna fly!'"

Thank you for the facts we were told we should stick to.

Don't be nervous. It's true that PP's goal is to make these shows younger/hotter/hipper, but we've all been around long enough to know that that's the nature of the soapy beast. I don't think the vets will merely launch the shows and be dispatched after week five. I think RSW is just stressing the importance of OLTL and AMC maintaining their identities with strong, familiar, veteran characters, especially when the loyal audience will be introduced to a fair share of recast younger characters and newbie originals.
