HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Let's just move on already. I've said all I needed to say. Now I'd rather we get back to shitty Prospect Park and their shitty idea to revive these shitty shows and give these shitty "actors" new jobs they do not deserve.

Of course, this does not apply to Darnell and Debbi, or to Erika and Robin. At least PP got one thing right. dry.png

Bwhahaha...a big +1 for this post!

Look, all I'm saying, or asking, is why must PP make every attempt at recreating AMC and OLTL's final cast right down to the last supporting and recurring player? Don't they get that a big reason why these shows were vulnerable to cancellation was because many of these actors and characters had turned away viewers in droves?

I actually wish they would start from the final casts and work from there, but that's not even remotely what they're doing. They haven't contacted Christina Bennett Lind, and there's been nothing about Asher coming back, or Scott, or Madison, etc. On OLTL, I know apparently a fan fave, Roxy, has not been contacted.

It's only been a year -- it's not enough time for a complete reboot and no one would watch if these were AMC and OLTL in name only.

The old Marland Rule for how not to wreck a soap still applies -- don't fire anybody for six months. The writers need to take the time to see what works and what doesn't on the canvas instead of being subjective and biased in culling characters right off the bat.

Jeff Kwatinetz has stated he wants youthful energy and edgier stories that are topical, straight from the headlines. That's going to be enough of a tonal shift for me to start with. Other stuff will also have to modernize to some extent with this stuff airing on the Internet instead of being meant for TV. I'm not worried that the soaps will feel like the same old same old. I do wish JR would move on from feeling like he is in Adam's shadow and would move on from bleating about how Adam doesn't love him though, I agree about that. It may just be an audition piece to see if the actor they cast *can* convey that part of JR's character.

No! Don't do that. Gonna PM you. smile.png

Don't discourage him! If you remember, you owe me a removed warning! LOL!

I still have a seven-year-old warning on my record for telling someone to go die. Anyway, I'm excited about the iTunes and hulu deals. I would rather Netflix because it's basically the best of those two worlds, but I'll deal. As far as who's needed and who isn't...is PP really in the position to say "thanks, but no thanks" to anyone from the shows who is willing to join them? Of course, they have control over who they call, but there really is no way of knowing who they have and have not called.

I read this and immediately thought you meant your student record and it just made me laugh. I don't know what that says about me but ... oh, well!

Thats why im happy the OLTL cast is made up of a lot of characters that were there at the ABC end. More happy that Susie Horgan who hasnt been at OLTL since 96 & Thom Racina who never wrote oLTL before are keeping a lot of these characters they dont even know. It shows at least to me that they want the fans to recognize OLTL

From Soap Opera Digest

*Jordi Vilasuso revealed #PP is taking our shows[AMC & OLTL] one year at a time: "From what I understand, they are doing [the shows] for a year. I signed for a [one] year contract and then we will see where it goes

  • Member

If what JV said is true im okay with it. That doesnt mean its only gonna be a year but might be better to play it safe for now. If and when the first year is a success than PP may require longer contracts from the actors. However JV may just be specualting all this based on the length of his contract

Oh, hell, I was just teasing - I didn't know Khan would take that offhand joke so seriously. I sincerely apologize for upsetting him or anyone else, I didn't mean anything by it. And I rarely apologize for anything on the Internet, so I mean it.

From Daytime Dish. RE: GH/OLTL/PP

No meeting yesterday. FV has meeting next week.

Three already have last airdate and exit strategy. RH gave formal notice to ABC will not be returning as contract is ending and not interested in signing another.

Easton and Alderson still firmly under contract. RH rep accepted PP offer.

KA & ME doing double-duty with GH & OLTL could only work best for the fans if both ABC & PP communicate regularly on these characters storylines.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Take: That RH is going to oltl and KA AND ME just crossing over to return becuase THEY HAVE 3 year contracts RH has only 1 year and its up in feb or march.
When did Daytime Dish become a reliable source of info? Please. If DC had not broken the story the people DD would make up stuff would not be posting anything.
