HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

That's what I'm talking about, he interfered and not for the better, ignoring OLTL was to it's benefit, since OLTL was better than AMC and GH for the most part

I suspect cutting Kish was a mandate from him and others--but mostly I agree. We know back when Frons first started, Josh Griffith said he left as co HW because of too much interference, but at some point Frons seems to have lost interest.

I've always wanted to see the OLTL commemorative magazine, or at least be able to read Susan's and other's comments.

From what I saw of Loving I actually kind of liked it.

All those soaps in the 12:30 time slot never really did much though in the way of ratings. Ryan's Hope (or, as I call it. "Ryan's Pope"), Loving, The City, and Port Charles got dismal ratings and most affiliates pulled them off their stations before the end of their runs.

Port Charles was the only one that could have been viable. Had it started at 4PM after GH (Instead of a talk show being there), if there were no vampires, and if a huge supercouple besides K&L were transferred over there too. Like Sonny and Brenda. Or, since it revolved around the hospital at first. They could have moved Alan and Monica Q. on there.

It was always a bad timeslot--and many affiliates simply didn't even air the show (or did at 1am)--I think affiliates fropped Ryan's Hope too. Agnes' original plan to snadwich it between AMC and OLTL made more sense.

The City's final three months did see ratings begin to climb slightly--which is significant only because at that time all of the other ABC soaps ratings were dropping. (And yeah Daytime to Remember did get fairly good ratings, much to everyone's surprise--but remember speaking of redheaded step children, they weren't even going to air classic OLTL till fans complained--in the end AMC got three weeks, OLTL got 2 and I believe GH got four).

I've always wanted to see the OLTL commemorative magazine, or at least be able to read Susan's and other's comments.

It was impossible for me to find anywhere--so I finally got it on ebay--I think it really is worth reading, like the AMC one the interviews are actually more candid than you expect from any official soap press nowadays.

Again, I am thrilled that we got actual confirmation from PP on both shows but I can't help but be a tad bit disappointed that we didn't get more from the AMC press release. Thorsten Kaye and Jill Larson were nice surprises but no mention of the writers? That is very disconcerting. I am still so happy AMC/OLTL are coming back I guess that part of me wanting everything right now wishes I got it.

Yeah, I guess we need to be patient. Errol said they would announce the writers sometime this week but he didn't say what day.

I'm sorry -- didn't Errol say last weekend that news about AMC's new HW was pending? Is it still pending, or have things changed on the front?

Their name has been mentioned in the thread before.

Can you tell us which poster mentioned it?wink.png

Didn't EON and Daytime To Remember have good ratings

I don't think EON ever did too well on ABC. Wasn't its first issue the fact that it used to be on, true to its name, late in the lineup--and when they moved it early it lost a big chunk of audience (people have claimed partly due to the large number of women workers and men who would get home in time to watch it)

I'll be damned if I am spending a shitload of money on eBay. Is it digital somewhere? Or can't someone, IDK, transcribe it? Can we pay them in gold?

i know I said with Marlene , Addie Walsh woud be a great Co-HW. Then got worried that Marlene's CO-HW may be Maria Arena Bell

That's horrible that they weren't even going to show classic One Life. :( Glad the fans got their way. :)

How did they show them in the 30 mins slot though. Did they just split one episode into two?

If one of the HW's is Marlene McP, then I'll say the other is Jeff Beldner. Or Hal Corley. Or Richard Culliton. [!@#$%^&*], I don't know.

ok im sticking with Marlene McPherson. Are they gonna have a Co-HW for AMC

I'm going to guess no. Someone as lawsuit-happy as Marlene probably ain't eager to split the HW salary.
