HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Oh I'm sure Trent Garrett will do just fine. And with Denise Vasi as Destiny, it's pretty much a win-win situation.

Stop it!

How about the girl with the mouth who played LipLiberty on Degrassi TNG? laugh.png

STOP!

WOW at the audition script. This sounds CRAZY.

Horgan took down the story meeting pic on Facebook, now that it's all over the soap gossip pages.

Maybe they shouldnt have taken the pic where u could see the cast list. The fact they took it down makes it soound official. Plus its not like we enlarged a script. maybe thats what they were worried about.

Good old Robin.

I'm glad she's excited, at least. I can get behind a lot of stuff and forgive a lot of stuff from a new, raw show in a new format and medium. I want to believe in the new show. But I'm not thrilled about the potential story for Matt and Des - a breakup and them being immature I can accept, as Matthew is still a very young man who's been through a lot and was hurled into that situation almost overnight. The quasi-escort [!@#$%^&*] would take a lot more explaining, though, and to me sends an immediate negative, tired image for a young black heroine. (Jamey Giddens suggested Thom Racina might be following the old Kimberly Brady and Shane playbook from DAYS, which I can see, but still.) If Destiny refused help from the families, I can see a young woman doing that, but they're still working at a disadvantage to get me behind that plot point. And that actual script - the pages of which are now onlne - was pretty bad. Maybe it was just a quick boilerplate script to gauge range, in which case, okay, but, who knows.

I guess I should be happy that the two of them appear to be a priority on the new show, and I am. I think Destiny as a character could be a lot more than she once was. It'll depend on how they execute. Or if this thing even happens.

Unless I'm missing something, wasn't Kimberly molested and went into prostitution because of her self-loathing?

I hope that this isn't supposed to be a couple to root for - to be honest when I read that description I was mostly rooting for the Evans mother to snatch the baby and run into the night.

I think he was just drawing the parallel to both characters hooking. Or at least Des being an "escort" - the script doesn't read like she's actually [!@#$%^&*] them, just being arm candy.

I assume it's all redemption road for both characters, but I just don't see a plausible way to get to this story in the first place given Bo, Nora, Richard and Phylicia. Not to mention that I simply do not believe Matthew would abandon Drew. Break up with Destiny and be fairly absentee, yes, have a fuckbuddy relationship with her, yes - kids do that. He's a young, complicated man. But ditch the kid? No.

I'll try to reserve judgment until I see what actually appears onscreen, though, or how it plays.

As long as the first episode doesn't open with Clint blowing Viki's back out, I'm good.

I can't even see him sleeping with her. He wasn't interested in her - they were drunk. He never went there before and showed no interest in going there again. If he suddenly wants her because they're now both played by underwear models, or whatever, I guess that's certainly realistic for the industry, but would make me feel a little sad.

Anyway, as you said, we don't know what will happen.

The Robin interview was a nice surprise. I didn't realize (or I'd forgotten) she disliked the exit where Dorian was a senator. I sort of liked it.

Unless I really missed something, Matthew and Destiny were not drunk when they slept together. They were stone cold sober, they were good friends and there had been a past attraction not realized because he'd been smitten with Dani. It was actually a very sweet scene, IMO.

And after they have a kid together? Yeah, I can see them hooking up even if their dating relationship falls apart. That happens.

I had forgotten the scene. I guess I was mixing that was up with some other thing. I hated the whole thing too much to focus. Thanks for the correction.

And because she couldn't make a living any other way in Paris, yes.

In the script, Destiny claims she needs the money for rent, tuition and Drew's needs. I do not see this as plausible unless her family and the Buchanans have all been eradicated by neutron bomb, but whatever.
