HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

She was delusional like MAB on her writing..and I also think she blamed others for her writing not being that great....AMC is doomed online with her as HW.

Its interesting that her baby gets the raw end of the deal where HW are concerned. Agnes should just write the show herself.

Like I said previously PP may actually listen to the fans if unlike ABC did. If they are serious about this I am sure they will so if we complain about her writing once the show airs I am sure they will make necessary changes. Also, I wonder how she will do with someone like Agnes grooming her. Also, her co-head may be able to balance her out. Plus the network won't be interfering.

I can see Agnes feeling like she doesn't have it in her to be sole headwriter anymore, due to her age and/or exhaustion. Isn't that the reason (until near the end of its run, of course) that she left after writing Bianca's coming out story? When was she last sole headwriter?

Well its not like its going to be on tv..or is it?? I mean episodes she has to write. This consulting business she does is just in name only....the last time she supposedly did consulting the show was horrible.

Yeah, that's true. I was thinking of it in more of a TV sense. The writing five episodes a week model.

That probably doesn't apply here at all.

They wont change writers they'll just get rid of the soap all together online.

If this is true, I'm going to try and keep an open mind as long as Agnes is involved.

Yeah, ultimately I agree.

I think Marlene's ideas, combined w/Agnes' influence and (hopefully) a Co-HW with past AMC experience, could make for an interesting show. We'll just have to see I guess!

Well with the news of SBH back at OLTL might get me to watch it. AMC as Blanche would say...flush them...lol...no more MarDar for me. Once was enough!

Thats the problem ...Mar didnt have any ideas when she was at Days. She was awful.

I'm not going to jump to those conclusions and I'm not going to give in to hysteria.

Writers I love have written stuff I hated and writers I hated have written stuff I love. AMC has a good cast and Agnes is consulting. I'm going to wait and see.

Haha, congrats, SoapBoy!

I'm really excited by these choices and think they are just the right mix of fresh and experience in writing soaps. I have no problem at all with Marlene McPherson. Days won the writing Emmy last year for the first time ever-- she must have been doing something right.

Khan, is that John Wilkes Booth in your avatar?

Nope, it's Charles Dickens.

This is great news that Susan Bedsow Horgan is returning to OLTL. This show was very near to her heart. Alot of people said Malone kind of sputtered out with Horgan. I will say though after Linda Gottlieb left that OLTL soared a bit. People don't remember LG left when the Viki/Dorian stuff about Victor came out. Horgan was part of the writing team in 1992-1994. Then she took over as executive producer in 1994 and I remember the late 1994/early 1995 OLTL was so rocking. It was the DID storyline coming to a huge head. Viki throwing Dorian down the stairs after confronting her about the molestation that IMO was riveting stuff. In fact Horgan's OLTL was riveting, I remember that period of time I was on edge of my seat. When JG left at end of 1995 it did go down a bit. Where Horgan lost her footing is when Malone left and she hired Leah Laiman/Peggy Sloane the show became a total mess under her. Then Horgan was shortly fired and they replaced her with Maxine Levinson who wasn't that rgeat. Its very refreshing PP really went for OLTL history here and brought back someone who was part of Gottlieb/Malone/Grffith inner circle. This is great news for OLTL. Also a fresh perspective to the show.

+1 I think she will, in the words of Shirley Caesar, be "sweeping through the city" to restore a sense of integrity and sophistication at OLTL. She was largely responsible for my favorite era of the show. She remains close with Erika Slezak and she was instrumental with the DID s/l so I'm hoping she'll revive and restore Viki and Dorian's dynamic relationship. Dorian really crumbled into a kooky mess and I hope Robin Strasser is a part of this project and we get to see that wonderful mid-'90s version of the character again. If anyone can fix the mess and loose ends of Victor's murder, if they ever decide to go there, it's someone like SBH. She has a true affection and respect for the show and counts her time there as the highlight of her career. I think PP has made a very wise choice. I realize that lighting can't strike in the same place twice, but better to launch this venture with someone who has the relationship she has with the show.

Totally unrelated, but I miss you Marceline! I feel like we never talk anymore.

Thank you, honey.

I'm going to be serving as co-AMC head writer.

I'll fight you for it! tongue.png

Unless I can sneak onto the OLTL writing team. Maybe they should just put in me in charge of returning/writing the Holdens. wink.png

You drove her away with all your damn Nene gifs.

I don't know what to make of Marlene McPherson as I've never watched DOOL regularly. How would you DOOL fans characterize her style?
