Y&R: Jess Walton is back

Featured Replies

A phone call doesn't mean anything. An article doesn't mean anything. Jess Walton saying it herself doesn't mean anything. Jess Walton is a liar.

Lol where are all the people who told us Jill was a liar who hates Jess even though she called Jess o nthe phone and spoke with her?

The funny thing is, they're going out of their way to work around Jess's schedule and her life in Oregon.

I assume she'll come in and out of the show, I doubt she'll sign a contract again.

Very happy to see Jill again! Even if it's only a brief return, at least this will tie up loose ends and presumably remind viewers of Jill's importance to Genoa City. Even if it's just having to put up with Chompers and Cane I'll still be happy. If not for Jill and Nikki I would have never gotten into Y&R and I will always have so much respect for Jess Walton's energy, hard work, and most of all, her professionalism.

These scenes are not mine, but here is some of those famous 1994 Jill vs Mamie scenes that this kind person uploaded ( I do have the full episodes to some of these that i will post soon.) I'm not sure if most of you got a chance to see them yet.

I loved that story. It was great to see Mamie and Jill finally getting into it. It was one of Jill's last great stories and a big asset to the show. I hate how they caved to bigotry.

They always do. Whether it's Kay and Joann about to lez it up in Hawaii, or Neil and Victoria feeling their own "Jungle Fever" in the G.C., or Mamie getting ready to jump the broom with Massa Abbott, Y&R always chickens out.

Funny you bring this up because tonight t dinner my Mom told me how she almost quit Y&R over this pairing... being dropped. She said she had thought they were going to go there with them and really wanted to see it happen and when it didnt and they stopped sharing scenes she was so upset she stopped watching, for a bit.

I told her how about the backlash and she had no idea and is even more pissed now, lol.

Believe me, I was pissed, too, as the whole backlash unfolded. Neil and Victoria hooking up had SO much juicy story potential, regardless of ethnic differences. To throw all that away because some yahoos don't want no colored boy kissin' and manhandlin' a white girl like that on their stories?

Moreover, I'll never understand how or why Bill Bell, a man who always came across as someone who did things his way and ONLY his way, would buckle in circumstances such as these. I mean, you would think he'd look at what these viewers had to say, think, "Screw 'em, I'm telling this story," and keep on going. But, no.

Either the man was not as daring as he wanted many to think, or he was just a big [!@#$%^&*] tease.

Neil and Victoria had a TON of chemistry I thought. I found Cole so boring so I was happy he was out of her orbit. I thought she was a good match for Neil because she was a fiesty character like Dru. Their relationship felt natural and not contrived like so many of his pairings.

I think above all else he was a businessman. The ratings came first and foremost. When those were thretend, he backed off social stories he may have wanted to do. That, or he buckled to Sony/CBS and wasnt as powerful as believed.

I never saw any chemistry. I thought Victoria spent most of their relationship crying and depressed, due to her pregnancy. I think Neil is just a dull, self-righteous character who suffocates women. I'm sorry they ended the relationship due to hate and prejudice but I never liked them together.

THIS. WJB got his fingers burned with Kay & Joann and what he perceived to be viewers tuning out, and he was very mindful ever since of the impact of being "too controversial." Also, didn't Neil & Victoria happened at the end of his writing tenure, before he surrendered the reins completely to Alden and Smith because of ill health? Not making excuses, just saying he may not have wielded the same power as he did back in, say, 1989.

I loved HT and KSJ together, too. I also remember them tiptoeing away from Phyllis & Damon Porter after they kissed. Or am I wrong? Can't remember how that story was resolved.

My jaw dropped when I read this, LOL. I get it now.

That last shot is so Brenda.

It's amazing when you think about all the successful stories Jill could have had in the last few years, with Tucker, with Colin, and MAB actively destroyed them. Imagine what you could do with Jill if you tried. Even in short stints.

You should put a photo of Mel Harris in there.

I always felt that JW was shafted when they decided to kill off Ji Min -- a much more viable male businessman character than, say, Tucker. He was international, cultured, mysterious, sophisticated, and Eric Steinberg was so hot. Plus he and JW really clicked on screen.

WORD.

Ji Min was what Tucker never even lived up to for one second. And it's not that LML created a bunch of viable roles... This probably was a lucky shot but this character worked.

EDIT: I believe Victoria & Neil started off as soon as Kay Alden became sole head writer in Spring 1998. I liked them a lot as an aspiring couple but they remained GREAT friends afterwards. The break-up was written very nicely, IMO. And we got the Stalker story aka. Heather Tom at THE VERY BEST.
