Was MAB the worst casting director in soap history?

I am addressing the biggest offense MAB did not just Y&R and the fans of these big soap actors. Instead of hiring the best actors/actresses for the role. She hired big time out of soap actors/actresses and cast them in completely miscast roles. Here is the long list:

Genie Francis(Genevieve): A complete bust from the beginning. She was completely miscast in this role. It was supposed to be billed a total departure from Laura. Honestly all she did was suck up tons of airtime from Y&R vets not to mention it felt like MAB was trying to replace her with Nikki. She even got an emmy nod. Honestly and the writing was very campy bad. I feel bad for Genie but IMO this firing only paves her big return to GH. She is so needed for the 50th anniversary.

Marcy Rylan(Abby): Surprising she was so loved as Lizzie on GL. She was given big stories and was treated as a big time star on that show for the four years she was on it. This role she was way too old for this role of a character that was born in 2000. She made the character obnoxious and she didn't fit being Victor's daughter. Plus the writing left to be desired. She wasn't the worst but what a dissapointment considering how popular she was on GL.

Maura West(Diane): Got completely utterly screwed in a bad writing stiuation. IMO MW put her heart into and she rocked it as much as possible. MAB wrote this character so unlikeable plus MW should have created a role. IMO the role of Diane never really had the same impact since Alex Donnelly. AD was amazeballs as Diane. She was cold, calculating and just plain great. MW won many emmys on ATWT, was praised for years on that show. Another talented actress wasted in a miscast part.

Jennifer Landon(Heather): A three time emmy winner who is an improvement on ER and she won three emmys in a row. the problem is she had ZERO ZERO SEX APPEAL. A complete departure of Vail Bloom. Honestly she didn't get much of a chance but again she was lauded at ATWT.

Debbi Morgan(Harmony): IMO an ill concieved role with a great actress. I think she was meant to fill the VR void. The problem we didn't care about the character. I feel bad for Debbi who is another emmy award winning actress.

Eden Riegal(Heather): IMO the worst example of MAB. Eden was an AMC icon and won an emmy as Bianca. This role she was totally wrong for. She was whiny, weak, and her storyline was atrocious. Plus it felt like ER was playing dress up in this role trying to attempt sexual appeal with other men and we kept thinking wait is this Bianca at Halloween dressing up. Just awful bad and the writing was terrible. A total embarassment. Honestly ER could have taken another role more suited or a new role.

These are the number of actresses all emmy winners or emmy nominees did in by MAB awful casting in parts completely wrong for them. As a casting director u can't hire an old time soap vet just for old time sakes who doesn't fit the role or works. U have to find the best person and even if that person is unknown. MAB did the worst offense she should write all these people apology letters. She screwed them and she these were all actors who had big roles on other shows. MAB was the worst casting director. Of all these actresses who was the worst miscast?

The funny thing is she was ALWAYS so defensive of her stunt casting decisions. She even defended it at the Paley Center tribute a few weeks ago, when she was already fired.

Well, I'm never one to defend JFP, but in her defense, all of the FOJ's are very talented.

i think darius mcrary was the worst recast. there was no way that eddie winslow tested so well in the focus groups the way mab and paul roach claimed. and the story dragged on for a year. brutal. just brutal. plus the bad press mcrary had (re: domestic violence allegations) made matters worse.

Anyway, MAB was awful, although supposedly some choices were forced on her, like Maura West.

I think one of the worst might be the casting for ATWT in 1996. I mean, damn.

They way she defended the likes of Genie Francis and Yvonne Zima (who popped!) was just awful.

I think she knew deep down these were duds, but was too stubborn to admit it, so she let the fans suffer.

You basically had Peter Parros (good), Kerr Smith (never liked him but he certainly found fame later) the butler from Loving with a dead muskrat on his head, and about six extras from MTV's House of Style.
