No real answers there, although I wonder if B&B wasn't doing well they would have stuck with the status quo. I'd forgotten how much I hate the term "

day part."

Pretty much....IMO they should have just brought the former Y&R writers back with Ed Scott as EP. No need for Phelps but of course she has Steve Kent backing up her lame ass.

I don't know why that B&B question was in there at all, the one about the lesbian story. Isn't Fairman tight with CC? I love Joanna Johnson and think she's done some of her best work in the last few years, but this isn't exactly a story people were hooked on.

I disagree that this would have worked. Y&R lost its core beginning with LML and then Bell/Sheffer delivering the coup de grace. There's no going back now. They need to completely reinvent and redefine themselves now. JFP could be the person to do it if reined in sufficiently well.

I am glad MAB is gone but reinvent themselves with JFP??? Really??? Couldnt they have found someone else??? No...Steve Kent: Let me get my SB beyotch friend JFP to EP Y&R.

B&B reinvented themselves with people who know B&B. They just knew what they had to do and it clicked. Y&R is, once again, reinventing itself with people who don't really know Y&R. It's a mixed bag. I do think you need new blood, but they need to be on equal footing with people who know the show. I know many hated LML, but I think if you truly paired her with Kay Alden and Jack Smith you'd have a brilliant show. One thing in particular that I loved is that she featured the Winters so much and they were important and got screentime. She recognized that part of the audience and she would regularly get the ratings over 6 million. She never needed total control and that's what killed her.

I do think there are good things JFP can bring to Y&R, I just wonder if it'll all end up being too much. Too many new people.

The problem is that the show isn't bringing their own people up the ranks. Janice, Teresa, Natalie and Beth are all capable of re-defining the show, but understanding the history of the show.

As for JFP, it is still a rinse and repeat cycle - while I may not always like FV's view of shows, he rose up the ranks of the OLTL - and did a good job with budget, and then moved on to another show. Some of the BTS production people have been at Y&R for twenty years, but they aren't even given the chance.

    • I really liked Joey giving Tripp encouragement and playing matchmaker for him and Wendy. They have really good brother chemistry. The only thing is I wish is that they had discussed Tripp’s failed relationships and how he might be reluctant to get into another relationship because he doesn’t want to get his heart broken again. But I enjoyed their scenes. And, agreed with Wendy that Tripp always rates a hug  Please register in order to view this content I also liked how charming Johnny was today with Wendy and with Chanel too. He could give Alex a few lessons Today was a perfect example of why I don’t have sympathy for Alex and probably never will. If he really, truly cared for Stephanie, the so called love of his life, he wouldn’t be acting like this. And due to RSW’s portrayal, it doesn’t come off as anger or lashing out in order to soothe his feelings, it just comes off as him not caring. Regardless, I do like how messy this is all getting and I hope it gets even messier.
    • The media who are going on about how much fun and 'like Parliament' the braying at the SOTU was, while blaming 'both sides,' are disgusting people. It's all fun fun fun to them, as our country grinds to a complete halt.
    • Lucy should have just retired, aside from game show or talk show appearances. Her efforts in the '70s and '80s were beneath her (Stone Pillow may have been more of a success but it further wrecked her health). She probably should have tried being a game show host, or producing a game show, as she loved them. It's just that she was, supposedly, incredibly lonely at home, so kept trying and trying.

    • I wasn’t watching the soap Texas but apparently actors Benjamin Hendrickson and Tom Wiggin were both in the cast before both landed at As The World Turns as Detective Hal Munson and Kirk Anderson.
