GH: Alternative

I'm mostly a lurker but I've read the GH thread for years.

I agree, SweetPea. It got to a point where if those of us who weren't thrilled, impressed nor satisfied with the inva-- I mean, um, inclusion of the OLTL characters and stories (complete with scene after scene of clunky exposition dialogue about what happened to these characters in another town on another show), we were being told our feelings about this "inclusion" were invalid and we should just get over it.

The bottom line is that Robin's death took backseat to the deaths of Cole and Hope. We got to see Starr go through her pity party day after day. Patrick, on the other hand, disappeared for two weeks. Then, only made unshaven guest appearances in his living room once every three or four weeks. Then, suddenly, he's snapped out of his grief, ready to live life, full of smiles and go-luckiness. While we got weeks of seeing Starr gnash her teeth and shriek about Cole and Hope, we watched Anna have exactly ONE moment of pure grief for her SECOND dead daughter -- which has totally been ignored. Yet, we see continuous mentions of OLTL characters' histories over and over again. It's unfair. GH fans get pandering "Holly, Anna and Robert all in one week! WE LOVE GH HISTORY!" and "The Floating Rib!" and "Felicia comes back -- to do nothing once every three weeks."

Enough! It's an uneven playing field. And all because it's just 4 characters doesn't lessen the fact that these 4 characters are getting their stories handled with care while the other GH characters AREN'T.

So on point as usual, R Sinclair.

Look at the current cast list on GH and give me five characters who would be worthy of being front burner for this show at this point in the shows history.

I don't know how you define worthy, but I think you could put Matt, Ewen, Tracy, Maxie and Heather to work and come up with a halfway entertaining show. You got your bitch, your crazy, your guy who can take his shirt off, and a young couple. That's all you really need to build a soap around and you can go take one of them in almost any direction.

If Port Charles had to experience a Llanview invasion, then why couldn't it have been Dorian and Viki, or even Bo and Nora?

The reason for this is because the actors who portrayed those characters were not pets of Cartini.

I'm standing on furniture cheering!

I've said this from day one! No attempt has been made to write for GH, and we are supposed to just get over it. HELL NO! We should root for this chit because it means we still believe in soaps? BULLCHIT! Its unacceptable and I will NEVER get on board!

What I don't understand is why people weren't pissed when the GH thread constantly went off topic about Jackie Zeman's plastic surgery, the Laura Wright hate/mockery, talk of Guza's hackery, etc. Yet now it's suddenly a problem with fans being annoyed by the influx of characters from that canceled soap that used to air before it.

There's some clear biasness going on here. Some folks need to accept that OLTL is canceled and dead, and living vicariously though GH is not going to help them or bring the show back.

Bravo to you as well!

Lol RC can't write for minorities so I'd hate to see him attempt to write for the Hubbards. Besides I know he wouldn't bring on DM as Angie. He'd bring her on as that doctor from PC who once crossed over on GH.

Sure can't write for black characters. Shawn's not a pimp or drug dealer so I imagine it had to be pretty difficult for them to write for him. Guess its just as well he's off screen.

I didn't see him give the Vega family or his own creation The Patels(from what little I saw of them) any good writing.

To them, it was probably good. They made an attempt. There has never been an attempt to write for black characters!

I remember the black and Latino characters on OLTL being on backburner. I suppose we're supposed to be happy that minorities are dayplayers on GH as if they haven't been for the past several years!

Out of curiosity (I don't watch GH) what is the minority representation on the show? I remember a lot of talk when Annie Ilonzeh showed up and I even watched a few clips just to see what she had going on but she moved on pretty quickly, correct? And I know they keep Epiphany as GH's version of Mamie but is there anyone else?

Currently Shawn, TJ(a teen GW created and gave the name of a legacy character to, and Ephinany. And then a bunch of random no name dayplayers like the mayor and the thugs Jason hires. Annie barely got anyhting on GH so she auditioned during pilot season and got a new job. Instead of recasting they let the character stay offscreen for weeks while Annie was filming her pilot, the show The Charlies Angels reboot got picked up, then brought her back to throw the character under the bus while writing her off. It was awful seeing her used to prop a little girl.

There was no representation. Then Guza brought in Shawn as a love interest for Carly. Wolf developed them and Carly very nicely. He even gave Shawn a dependent, TJ. Cartooni came in and got rid of them post haste!

[!@#$%^&*] Losers!
