Yep, nothing offensive about Randi, and I agree that she was mostly background. Pointless stories didn't revolve around her for years.

If we're talking about a character who stayed too long or who did too much damage long-term, then I can see why Krystal or Babe are chosen. If we're talking about a character whose concept was bad, I don't think they are as high on the list, because I think the idea of Krystal and Babe worked, at least short-term. (although I wouldn't have ever done the Jamie/Babe part of the story)

I think 90's AMC had a lot of characters who were just a bad concept from the start, and never had any chance. The backstories and very early stories for Camille, Kit, and Tanner were just non-starters, and in some cases very offensive. Jim Thomasen, who went from hero to child pornographer and terrorist in about ten minutes, was another.

Randi was HARDLY the worst character in daytime or AMC. She was just played by a horrible actress but the character itself was not that bad and didnt do anything to warrant that title. The concept behind her was solid enough and she didnt have god awful stories. She mainly populated the background and didnt destroy anything or come across offensive. I think some of the worst characters do. Randi was mainly just there

DAYS: Bonnie Lockhart, Patrick Lockhart, Connor Lockhart, Dr. Alex North, Willow Stark, the daughter/father team on Tinda Lau (cannot for the life of me recall their names). And although I commend them for sort of trying to keep it in the core families, I thought Nick Fallon, Jeremy Horton, and Jett Carver were all disasters. I also think it was dumb to bring back Bo & Billie's not-so-dead swamp baby Chelsea/Georgia.

Is she strong and independent, taking care of her mentally ill brother? Is she mother earth with baby fever? Does she watch women kidnap babies from strollers and keep silent? None of that! She's Alexis Davis' long lost daughter!!! This character hasn't done Kelly Monaco any favors except keep her employed. Especially fresh from playing Livvie Locke to the hilt on Port Charles. People will blame her pairing with Jason for Sam's lack of... anything, but lest we forget, Jason was THIRD in line after a failed pairing with Sonny... which came after a failed pairing with Jax.

The most offensive thing about Randi was that Frankie was stuck with her when he showed more spark with other women. But in comparison to other characters on the show at the time she was relatively harmless.

Chloe(Y&R)- When she was just Chloe Mitchell who was trying to steal Cane away from Lily she was fine for a villian. But when they decided to make her Kate Valentine, things got a little dicey. First she was in love with Cane and Billy was just her booty call. No wait, she been in love with Billy the entire time and was only using Cane because he was a more suitable father to her child. Her main motivation for being Chloe was because she had such an awful life being the maid's daughter.

Cane(Y&R)- Con man and orphan. The real Phillip Chancellor the third. Con man faking to be Phillip out of the goodness of his and because he had no family. Running away from the cattle mafia. Running away from his mob family. Dies. Turns out to be alive and it his twin that died.

Ronan(Y&R)- Still don't know why he's pissed off despite the fact that he had a good life with adoptive parents and he knows that Nina didn't give him away on purpose.

Just about anyone from Y&R's last 4 years could be on the list. Chloe and Ronan are two of the best examples, although Daisy and Ronan are also high up there, along with Tyra, who apparently existed so people could say, "You're just like Dru!"

Cane's whole backstory is a big jumbled mess and I don't know why Sony didn't let MAB keep him dead.

Back in the early 90s, DAYS treated to us to a mother/daughter duo named Molly and Ginger...they were pretty horrible. And remember Dena's first run, before JER came back? Wasn't there some lady named Maya who Shawn had a flirtation with? Alex North was pretty horrible too.

Of course, the worst ever has to be Erica Kane's un-aborted fetus.

Josh himself wasn't horrible, but the whole story of how he came to be was awful and massively insulting. Plus the whole idea that Erica would hook up with Jeff Martin in 2006/2007 was just laughable. Hell, if I'd been Jeff Martin, I'd have demanded a DNA test and some explanation from Erica because Josh looked nothing like him.
