Overhyped Daytime Soap Actors and Actresses

I don't think Martha Byrne was overhyped at all. The Lily/Holden era ushered in a storyline renaissance for ATWT, and Martha was an integral part of it. There was a reason that she was the first actress from the show to win an Emmy for Lead Actress. Her work during the first year of Lily/Rose was stellar. (Dual roles can be tricky...if an actress can't deliver, the results can be deadly...ask Victoria Wyndham or Adrienne Frantz). And let's not forget the intangibles, like charisma and chemistry. Noelle Beck was a perfectly fine actress, but she had zero chemistry with Jon Hensley and Elizbeth Hubbard, so when the show took it's final bow, their scene meant nothing.

However, I must agree that Hunt Block OWNS the category of overhyped. He was on constantly, and shoved down the viewers throats. He took a multi-layered flawed hero, and turned him into Snidely Whiplash.

Personally I think the soap industry tends to reward actresses who can cry big fat tears on cue, and they tend to confuse that skill with actual acting talent.

None of the criers impress me.

Thank you! smile.png I think we're running out of topics. Let's start a "who's got the biggest weiner" thread, one for actor and another for characters (cuz those soap ladies gotta be fighting over SOMETHING!)

LOL I remember a thread from a few years ago about what male soap characters wear to bed.

Your topic sounds great too,. smile.png

I remember a certain AMC actress would try to hold her eyes open so they'd tear up. You could tell because they'd start to flutter as the air hit them while she tried to produce tears.
