March 3, 201214 yr Author Administrator NBC: Guys With Kids The Jimmy Fallon multi-camera project, written by Charlie Grandy, revolves around three thirtysomething guys who enjoy the adventures of parenting despite the fact they haven’t grown up themselves. March 3, 201214 yr Member NBC: Beautiful People Emmy-winning helmer Stephen Hopkins has been tapped to direct NBC’s futuristic drama pilot Beautiful People. The project, written by Cougar Town co-executive producer/director/actor Michael McDonald, is set in the near future in a society where humans co-exist with mechanical androids that look like people but are treated like second-class citizens. Beautiful People, which Mad TV alum McDonald originally wrote 10 years ago, is co-produced by ABC Studios and Universal TV. This one sounds cool, but sadly sci-fi shows rarely thrive on network tv. This would probably be more successful in cable. ABC: Counter Culture the network just greenlighted a half-hour pilot, multi-camera comedy Counter Culture. Written and executive produced by writer-actress Stephnie Weir and executive produced by Claudia Lonow, Counter Culture revolves around three aging sisters running their family diner together in West Texas who find that sibling dynamics are always getting in the way of getting the job done. This sort of sounds like a "Golden Girls" esc comedy. I'd like to see this see the light of day. NBC: The Frontier NBC just gave the green light to the Sony TV-produced period Western The Frontier, from writer Shaun Cassidy and Prospect Park. Thomas Schlamme is attached to direct and executive produce the pilot, which chronicles the journey of a group of disparate travelers from Missouri to the West Coast in 1840. As they struggle to survive, these strangers will be forced to band together and form a family, while they boldly press forward into the great unknown that is the Frontier. The Frontier is one of 3 Western drama scripts commissioned by NBC this season. I'd love to the westerns return to network tv, there hasn't been one arguably since Dr. Quinn and this one sounds good, but for some reason, I think Westerns are more suited for CBS, than NBC. CBS: Elementary Elementary, from CBS TV Studios and studio-based Timberman/ Beverly Prods., is described as a modern take on the cases of the pipe-smoking private eye created by Arthur Conan Doyle, with Sherlock now living in New York City. Veteran Medium writer-producer Doherty wrote the script and is executive producing the project with Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly. May not be the most creative, but I dig it. CBS: Super Fun Night CBS has given a pilot green light to Super Fun Night, a multi-camera comedy pilot written by and starring Australian actress-comedian Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids). The project, from Warner Bros TV and Conan O’Brien’s studio-based Conaco banner, follows three nerdy female friends on their ”funcomfortable” quest to have super fun every Friday night. O’Brien, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger are executive producing, with Wilson co-executive producing. So is this sort of like a Female version of Big Bang Theory? If this gets picked up, I can see this getting the post Big Bang Slot. Edited March 3, 201214 yr by wingwalker

March 4, 201214 yr Member ABC: White Van Man ABC has given a cast-contingent pilot order to White Van Man, a blue collar ensemble comedy based on the British series of the same name. Former My Name Is Earl executive producer Bobby Bowman wrote the adaptation for ABC Studios and studio-based Mark Gordon Co. The single-camera show centers on a man who is forced to put his dreams on hold in order to take over the family handyman business from his father. The ITV Studios-produced original, which premiered on BBC Three last year, was created by Adrian Poynton. The series takes its name from the UK phrase that describes the stereotype for drivers of light commercial vehicles, often self-employed or owning small businesses such as handyman services. Wow. They won't be keeping that name.
