FOX: Let It Go

Let It Go, written/executive produced by DJ Nash (Traffic Light) and executive produced by Peter Tolan, is an ensemble comedy about a married couple, his best friend, and her sister as they try to navigate, negotiate, and sometimes manipulate society’s unspoken rules. CAA-repped DJ Nash, currently co-executive producer on NBC’s Bent, is exec producing with Tolan and Tolan producing partner Michael Wimer. Sony TV is producing with Tolan’s Fedora banner.

FOX: Must Hire

Must Hire, from Sony TV and Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare, was written by Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne (Wilfred) who executive produce with Tarses and Julia Franz. It centers on an uptight, young executive who hires his dad for an entry level position and is shocked to discover that his new hire is a disruptive office clown.

NBC: 1600 Penn

NBC is about to hand out a late pilot order to 1600 Penn, a White House family comedy from Book Of Mormon star Josh Gad, Modern Family director Jason Winer and former speechwriter to President Barack Obama Jon Lovett. The order comes after Gad, originally only attached as co-writer and executive producer, also has agreed to also star in the project, produced by 20th Century Fox TV where Winer is under an overall deal. 1600 Penn, co-created by Gad, Winer and Lovett, is a dysfunctional family comedy where the out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only it’s biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together. The twist is that this family resides in the White House.

ABC: The Smart One

I hear that, in a quick turnaround, ABC has snatched the multi-camera comedy titled The Smart One after NBC passed. The project, written by Samantha Who? co-creator/executive producer Don Todd, is about dueling sisters. Arrested Development and Ally McBeal alumna [Portia] de Rossi plays one of them, a brilliant and successful woman who has to go to work for her less brainy but more popular sister — a former beauty queen, weather girl … and now big-city mayor. [Ellen] DeGeneres and Todd are executive producing with Lauren Corrao.

NBC: Revolution

NBC has given the green light to Eric Kripke/JJ Abrams’ drama Revolution. The project, from Warner Bros. TV, had a massive production commitment with a $2 million penalty attached to it. The pilot order comes after a recent rewrite. Revolution, written by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, is being described as a high-octane action drama following a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Abrams, Kripke and Bryan Burk are executive producing.

ABC: Untitled Mandy Moore/Shawn Levy comedy

ABC has given a late pilot order to a single-camera pilot starring actress/singer Mandy Moore, which will be directed by Shawn Levy. The project, written by Bob Fisher and Stacy Traub, centers on newlyweds Annie (Moore) and Ben who get the opportunity of a lifetime to run a hip, new restaurant in Annie’s hometown bringing her closer to her needy and high maintenance family.

FOX: Little Brother

former Everybody Loves Raymond executive producer Mike Royce has scored a pilot order for the studio. Fox is finalizing a cast-contingent pilot pickup for Little Brother, a multi-camera comedy from 20th TV, Adelstein Prods. and Hat Trick, about a man that finds out that he has a half-brother he never knew about, who also happens to be an ex-con.

CBS: Untitled Larry Dorf/Ben Falcone/Melissa McCarthy comedy

CBS has given a late pilot order to an untitled multi-camera comedy written by actors Larry Dorf and Ben Falcone and co-executive produced by Falcone’s wife, Mike & Molly star Melissa McCarthy. Falcone, originally not attached as an actor, will also star in the project, about a single 37-year-old man (Falcone) who loses everything he has in the real estate collapse and finds himself back home in the house he grew up in….with his parents.

FOX: Goodwin Games

Fox has given the green light to Goodwin Games, a single-camera comedy from How I Met Your Mother co-creators/executive producers Carter Bays & Craig Thomas and fellow HIMYM executive producer Chris Harris. The project had been cast-contingent on securing Ugly Betty alumna Becki Newton as one of the leads. After lengthy negotiations, Newton, who fielded several other pilot offers, agreed to board the project, triggering a pilot order. The Goodwin Games, from 20th Century Fox TV where Bays, Thomas and Harris are under deals, revolves around three siblings, one played by Newton, who reconnect after the death of their father.

NBC: Notorious

NBC gave a very late pilot order to Notorious, from Universal TV and BermanBraun. It is described as an opulent soap in which a female detective returns undercover to the wealthy family she grew up in – as the maid’s daughter – to solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend. Liz Heldens wrote it and is executive producing with Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.

Shows that I'm interested in based on premised/logline. Not surprised that I didn't have any CBS dramas on my list - they're usually the same old same old stuff.

I'm interested in Counter Culture, The Frontier, Downwardly Mobile, Americana, Nashville, Malibu Country (though it sounds like a rehash of Reba), Devious Maids, Bad Girls, Shelter (horribly dull title), and Scruples.

Shows that I'm interested in based on premised/logline. Not surprised that I didn't have any CBS dramas on my list - they're usually the same old same old stuff.

You know I'm a CBS boy, but even I have to agree with you this year. Other than the Modern Day Sherlock Holmes one, none of CBS drama's catch my eye this year.

OK. I really hope ABC don't pick up 666 Park Avenue. Just the name alone strikes me wrong.

ABC: Only Fools And Horses

Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley’s multi-camera And Only Fools And Horses, from ABC Studios, is based on the British format. It follows the misadventures of two streetwise brothers who scrape by selling unreliable goods believing that at any moment they could become millionaires.

I'd be ecstatic to see this, except we don't have the best track record when it comes to adapting Brit-coms for U.S. audiences.

ABC: Gotham

Michael Green’s Gotham, from 20th Century Fox TV, centers on a female cop who, after pursuing a seemingly unsolvable case, discovers a magical world that exists within New York City.Kings creator and The River showrunner Green, repped by WME, is executive producing with his manager, 3 Arts’ Erwin Stoff.

And that world is headed up by a man named "Vincent," who was born with the body of a man, but the face of a lion.
