Soap stars who left their marriages for a co-star

There is no need for name calling. I just stated my opinion on what I found hot and what I didnt and why someone would or would not marry find someone hot. Dragonflies replied with some humor. Your posts toward me have always been nasty. i have never given you any reason to be nasty towards me.

Yes, he looks much hotter in this pic. Too bad you can only see a side view of him. He was 42 when he first started on GL. He is featured on the ATWT DVD release and looks the same in 79. This must be from 69 when he first started on SFT. He would have been 27 in this picture.

soapsuds, some time back I put some photos in the Searfh for Tomorrow thread which had Peter Simon and his love interest at the time (on the show) ice skating. He looked pretty good there.

I think he's one of those guys who looked older than his years but didn't age that much as others did.

I've always found Peter Simon very soulful and attractive, even with that giant bald spot. Who gives a [!@#$%^&*]?

The DePaivas have done well. Beth Ehlers, OTOH, appears to have tried to seduce half the cast of Guiding Light. That Robert Bogue debacle was just embarrassing.

I didn't realize Frank Grillo and Wendy Moniz were happy together. That's lovely. He's fantastic in The Grey and looks poised to become a much bigger star as a character actor off of that; she does a lot of primetime and is still just beautiful. Had the soaps more of a future she could easily snag a contract role somewhere too, IMO.

He seemed to go right to primetime after GL. He was miscast on GL but it worked out for him. He's also another of those actors whose career wasn't affected by nude photos (Josh Duhamel being another), so when people make a big deal about that type of thing being a career killer, I roll my eyes.

She sure seemed to have a thing for anyone playing Mallet, that's for sure. Based on the timing, I've always wondered if knowing that Bogue left his wife for Mandy Bruno, that they were about to go public with their relationship in May 2008, and were getting paired up on the show too is what really drove BE to AMC and not necessarily missing "her Ricky" so much that she couldn't go on at GL without him. The Peapack experiment played a part too, she wanted to work in Manhattan full time since that's where she lived, but maybe there was more.

On the one hand, I felt (and still feel) awful for BE, since the details of that whole, erm, affair were common knowledge among soap fans and the industry alike. At the very least, that had to have been an awkward and embarrassing situation for her.

Yet, OTOH, well, you reap what you sow. *shrugs*

    • I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.
    • No. There might have been a slight pause for dramatic effect after his "death," but pretty soon after they showed him in France getting plastic surgery and getting involved with his doctor, then planning with her to bring Christina to France. (She thought he had good reason to do it; she wasn't a bad person or anything). Now that I think of it, there must have been some kind of pause before that, during the 70s, because when Rita was accused of killing a patient when she lived in Texas, part of the backstory was that Roger had been there, too. Not sure exactly when or how long that was.
    • Thank you. She’s disgusting.
    • I've already stated that I don't like Doug being written as this meek and submissive. It was so lame watching him leave her like that. Vanessa can divorce him, but she then needs to get her thot ass into therapy. She's not only having sex with every guy she runs into, but is now having  sex with a skeevy perv on a poker table. I'm going to give the BTG some credit here. For months, many on this board were delighting in the Vanessa/Joey flirting and what they saw as chemistry. I think we're now seeing what the writers always intended -- that Joey is a disgusting POS wannabe mobster.
    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
    • Be glad it wasn't a Perry production.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
