Catherine Hickland says that behind the scenes at OLTL was toxic.

I actually went and bought Nelson's little weekly magazine. Catherine Hickland is so awesome and outspoken.

What a dishy read. I find this interesting because it has always seemed that way to me. That behind the scenes at OLTL must have been an absolute nightmare. She says some of it stems from the show's reputation as a red headed stepchild, but that there was so much gossip and backbiting, and that bad behavior was rewarded.. She claims that she was a huge OLTL fan since 1979 and she would always compliment the actors on the show, and they would always say the same thing- It was hell behind the scenes..she heard all the stories when she was on Loving too, and it was pretty well known at ABC..

She does say that Lindsey is her favorite character of all time but Capitol was her favorite show to work on.

I have my opinion on who the [!@#$%^&*] stirrers were at OLTL, and sadly they were some of my favorite actors..

Totally random post but I found it interesting.

Whatever happened to just doing your job and not creating problems? Honestly they should have been glad to have a job, all the ego tripping backstage makes no sense to me.

I don't know if that ever happens on any set.

Louise Sorel actually left the show largely because her relationship with Rauch ended (has he ever even married? Just wondering--I have no idea).

He married an opera singer in the 90's I think.

Every business should be run that way. You don’t like it here? You’re complaining? You’re causing trouble? Please leave because a lot of people want your job and it will be very easy to replace you. When you run a business like John Conboy, you don’t have a toxic environment.

Umm this is just as dangerous Hickland....

Actors tend to have big egos, so it doesn't surprise me at all that there is a lot of clashing behind the scenes. You can't face the kind of rejection actors do without having a lot of...confidence in yourself.

Oh, I agree with that, I don't think it's ever happened much. A lot of actors don't have common sense, it seems.

Isn't Catherine good friends with Bob, Hillary and Ty? Who else did she work with in that time besides Clint Ritchie, who was unhappy around the time she came on because he left soon after.

I know that this wasn't her time...but I'd love to know the backstage stuff with JP and Farah when Crystal Hunt was on with Scott Evans/Brett Claywell. That just seemed like a bad time backstage. Didn't Crystal have some kind of going away party and basically no one from the cast showed up?

There are drama queens and [!@#$%^&*] stirrers in every workplace. That said, I'm not remotely surprised to hear that OLTL was a snake pit backstage. Look at how different AMC and OLTL reacted to PP. The AMC actors formed an email group where they could share info while the OLTL actors clawed their way to whatever deal they could get.

I can just guess who the worst offenders were.

I thought it was the other way around with her party and most of the cast except for FF and JP were there. For some reason, it seems like I remember seeing pictures of several of the OLTL cast at the party, including KA, JvD, and maybe Scott and Brett (that's all I can recall right off).

Here it is...I knew I wasn't going senile (yet anyway).

It was her 25th birthday party in 2010 and her OLTL and GL cast mates were there.

From OLTL were: Brett Claywell, Amanda Setton, Tika Sumpter, Scott Evans, Sean Ringgold, Jason Tam, Brittany Underwood, Kristen Alderson, Bree Williamson, Jerry verDorn, and Robert S. Woods.

I thought it was very interesting at the time that a story which JPL and FF both disliked (and one or both went to the press with their dislike) ended in every actor in the story but them being fired.

I know....I remember that and thought the same thing.

And regarding the earlier comments about RSW, I thought most of his co-stars liked him. I know he was always a practical joker behind the scenes, and that most of his gags were directed at Phil Carey (whom you could tell wasn't all that pleased of course, lol).

He seems to be a big ham, that everyone loves. I remember at the first Emmy's in Vegas, Bob was a little over served. After Dick Clark's tribute, he went up to his seat to shake Dick's hand. Of course, Dick is very fragile since his stroke. Bob was escorted out of the show.

Everyone in the audience got a great laugh.

I think in the end, they were screwed fan-base wise. They were setting up a great three-way custody battle between Kim-Clint, Gigi-Rex and Fish-Kyle before everyone was fired. The following summer, they ended up on the backburner and didn't have a real story until Shane was bullied unless you include that horrible story of Rex thinking he found his parents out west.
