2012: The Directors and Writers Thread

I wonder why Carlivati didn't just give Katherine Schock the SE role, since she had it at OLTL and worked with most of these writers longer. Even though, I do not think highly of her work, she probably has a better grasp on them and would need a lesser learning curve to gauge their strengths.

I really wonder how much that helps though, she's only one person with any extended history of the show at this point. Her feedback probably isn't on a great scale either.

Judging the current state of GH's day to day "dialogue," I think Korte's editing role was pretty minor in appearance when the old team was there.

Looks like Josh Griffith has a Twitter, and claimed tomorrow is his first day working on Y&R.

I assume Jill already started, or will start tomorrow as well.

Maria wasn't a technical producer in the sense JFP is, so I assume Sally McDoanld and Anthony Morina were always running the day to day stuff at the studio, but that set-up is bound to change with JFP and Mary O'Leary (you know she's coming with Jill) there.

I was disappointed by Lacey Dyer leaving. She was one of the few new writers whose scripts I enjoyed watching. The rest of the changes I'm generally pretty happy with. Too bad about all the recycling of writers, I agree, but they could've done worse.

Wow, I don't remember a time when everyone arrived all at once. Things must've been planned out way in advance for all the exits/arrivals to happen at the same time.

He's a breakdown writer so we'll never know what his episodes will be.

    • Correction, Chicago Hope 1994/95 was initially Thursday 9 pm, a CBS dead zone and head-to-head w/ Seinfeld. 1994/95 CBS Thursday 10 pm initially was Eye to Eye with Connie Chung. Later in the season CBS did a scheduling shift with Chicago Hope moving to Monday 10 pm, Eye to Eye with Connie Chung moving to Thursday 9 pm, and 48 Hours moving from Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 10 pm.

    • A--I wish someone would post a better vid of the entire ball, as it must be out there. And B--nope. Evie is only in a small segment of the ball with Phillip, Rick and Mindy. She doesn't dance at all. Ross dances with Helena and Amanda. I'm not even sure why Evie is at the ball---Vanessa heartily disliked her. I did see that Billy actually asked Henry to introduce him to Vanessa, which I hadn't realized.
    • Honestly, they should've ordered more of 2000 Malibu Road for the 1992-93 midseason and aired it when Knots went on a break. That was probably their best shot.    Then of course they fumbled Central Park West by airing it in the 9PM slot instead of a 10PM slot where it would've been away from the Fox dramas. CPW got its best rating by airing randomly on a Sunday and when it was taken off the air for a "re-tooling", Party of Five's ratings actually had a spike, so clearly they were feeding off each other. But being a smaller network focused on a certain demographic, Fox could afford to be patient Party of Five, CBS couldn't...
    • Agree on Bruce Gray as Owen; they needed to cast star power. He was too lightweight against Kim and he had no chemistry with Frances Fischer except more gay buddy or daddy figure.  I loved Nola and Eliot together though. Lee Godart should have been longer term.
    • Andre has the worst fashion of the males which is off putting for someone as fine as he is. His jackets and sweaters look dated and no vintage does not work for him
    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
