Nightclubs on Soaps

Also, the clip had the ATWT clip "going strong," at like 5 p.m.! The clip switches scenes with Nancy and Chris sitting on their patio talking before dinner, with Bob stopping by after work. So at one end of Oakdale it was, 5:30, and the other end it was 2 a.m. and the party was going strong! I love it when soaps try to be "hip," and they just look goofy!

This is still often a problem on soaps--the past while OLTL seems to be the worst offender even with scenes with daylight coming in windows and then elsewhere it's night and people are living it up. Of course with clubs they often look silly too because for ligistical reasons on soaps they tend to be really brightly lit (don't get me started about the odd mix of ages, like nobody IDs...)

What was the name of the club that had male strippers on DOOL back in the 80s? Beefcake?

GH had Luke's nightclub where he raped Laura. Duke had a nightclub later. There was Sonny's Paradise lounge.

AMC had Foxys and the Steam Pit.

I think Foxy's was genuinely a dive bar--like Krystal's EndUp or whatever it was called (was it called the EndUp I know that's a famous gay disco from San Francisco lol)

Foxy's was like a sleazier version of Hooters, the waitresses walking around in their little fox ears and tails like a broke down version of the Playboy Club. Always reminds me of that episode of Diff'rent Strokes where Arnold finds out his teacher played by Jayne Kennedy is moonlighting at a similar sleazy men's club.

Millennium was a great set, and I think the last time they used it was when Drew left? There was also Inferno after Millennium closed or was sold or kinda became Inferno.

ATWT had JavaUnderground.

i always thought inferno was downstairs and millienium was on the upstairs level? wasn't inferno just a bar type of place more than a night club with danny's office to the right?

You're right. Infierno was a casino/bar located in the basement of Millenium. Millenium was supposedly still open when Infierno was introduced but we never saw it again because the set was so big they couldn't maintain it so it had to be scrapped. Everyone congregated at Infierno and Danny's office in it from then on because the set was so much smaller/cheaper.

The campus disco is where the famous Luke and Laura scene took place.

On GL, Millenium was a cruddy name once it was the new one, I agree it was the same building. At the Beacon, they had Olivia's which sort of replaced Infierno, though we didn't see that too often. Towers Club had live music and before that it was the Blue Orchid.

I remember on GL the following clubs:

Blue Orchid (loved that set!)

The Blue Moon

Millenium

Inferno

Then I stopped watching the show so not sure if any clubs after Inferno.

ATWT:

The Cellar

Java Underground

Crash (converted from Mabel's?)

What were the clubs on Y&R in the 70's and the 80's?

Well obviously there was The Bayou ^_^

But there was also Jonas' which was owned by a guy named Jonas where he let Gina sing for the first time if I recall right.

If memory serves,Jonas' was originally The Allegro, which Leslie Brooks owned.Brock was involved in some capacity,Leslie bought the restaurant which originally was 'Pierre's' belonging to Pierre (Robert Clary) after he died. When Les got amnesia and become involved with Jonas,he ran his retaurant in another town, When Les returned to GC and Jonas followed, she had The Allegro made over to replicate his other restaurant.

When Les left town,Gina borrowed money from Jack and revamped it into 'Gina's'.

Millenium did become Inferno. I think Danny bought Drew out before she left town, or after she left town.

I don't know why but it always annoyed me when Danny would pronounced it "Infierno," as at this time the show seemed to decide they needed to remind everyone the Santos family was Latino - it reminded me of the old In Living Color sketch about what if news anchors overpronounced every ethnic name.
