The cool thing about the Writers Guild Awards is that it really honors the movies and the shows that everyday people root for and enjoy.

For proof, just look at this year’s new series winner, Showtime’s “Homeland.” This is a highly-rated show that the SAG Awards omitted just last month but the WGA celebrated Sunday night in Hollywood.

Other winners of note include Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” for best original screenplay and “The Descendants” for best adapted screenplay.

ABC’s “General Hospital” won the Writers Guild Award for best daytime drama. After the win, one of the soap’s writers, Karen Harris, came back stage where reporters asked her about the future of “General Hospital.”

It is ABC’s last soap. But Harris said she’s not too concerned that Katie Couric’s talk show will take over the soap’s timeslot, leading to cancelation.

‘”The Revolution” (which replaced “One Life to Live”) has tanked and its our hope that Katie Couric’s show will replace it,” Harris said. “I mean you hear rumors but we haven’t been canceled.”

“The Revolution” has only drawn 1.52 million viewers, which is 43 percent less than what “One Life to Live” averaged.

^^ I agree with the above poster........

Even IF the Revolution is cancelled, I still don't see GH taking its timeslot

It's one thing to compare OLTL's ratings to The Revolution. Compare it to GH's and it might be another.

Not that I don't appreciate her positivity

But ABC is promoting her show at 3pm Eastern no?

And hasn't it been cleared in 93% of networks?

She doesn't work for ABC or GH anymore so while it's her opinion I don't see that it matters. Katie is also syndicated and at this point that 2:00 pm timeslot still belongs to ABCD I believe.

Why is she talking?

Because she was asked a question. Of course she's going to give the most positive spin possible.

Thank you! ICAM!

Thanks for posting the Labine clips, Alvin.

Because she was asked a question. Of course she's going to give the most positive spin possible.

She was also chairing the event for WGA West. And maybe her peers elected her to speak for the group.
