Members AllMyDaysatGH
Wednesdays show was the best in awhile. That was a great ending with Marlena breaking down crying and Stefano doing his evil laugh! I loved the Marlena/Will and John/Stefano scenes! I liked that actor playing Sonny's BF. I did not like how those scenes were directed at all though. Will was looking a sappy mess and that guy didnt seem to care or wonder why? LOL. I wonder what T is up to these days? The Kate/Daniel scenes were pretty good. Loved some of the history mentions. I wasnt really a fan of them as a romantic pairing.
Members dc11786
I caught today's episode. The show still lacks energy, which was something it has been missing for the past few years. At least in the past, I always saw the story potential. The Kate / Daniel scenes were well done. Kate is such an odd character for 'Days of our Lives.' She truly a gray character doing terrible things, while showing genuine concern for others. I don't think the show properly resolved the Kate / Daniel relationship as Kate's feelings for Daniel helped to fuel the hatred for Chloe / Daniel. It was nice to see a scene like today's after seeing a scene like the one between Jennifer / Kate in June when Kate reemed Jennifer for dating a man who hurt her brother. The Marlena / Will scenes were nice, but also highlighted a major problem I have with the Marlena / Will relationship. It's too clinical, which works for the show. Will even told Marlena he needed her to be his grandmother and not a psychiatrist. As I see it, it highlights the heart of the issues between Marlena / Sami; Sami is damaged and Marlena wants to fix her. Sami resents being psychoanalyzed by her mother and reacts in a very negative and often destructive way. On the otherhand, I haven't heard of any scenes between Will / Kate, which should be played. I would love for Will to walk upon Kate and Ross Matthews' character and for this to open up a conversation between Will and Kate. Given the Stefano / Marlena dynamic the show continues to play, I don't understand why the show doesn't play the Kate / Marlena dynamic. How does Kate feel about her husband's open affection for Marlena? How would Marlena feel if Will leaned on Kate in his time of need as he has since he returned to Salem in 2009? I thought Abby fishing for information about Austin / Carrie's relationship could have been handled more subtly. Didn't Austin donate the bone marrow that saved Abby when she was INFANT? Has this been addressed at all? Sonny's date had some odd dialogue. Did the show ever reveal who shot the Brady pub up or was that plot point dropped? Members DRW50
Sonny is there solely as a token, a "good" gay to deflect criticism and to make Will freak out yet again. It's just a pointless role, and a waste of Judi Evans, one of daytime's best actresses. Having Judi non-existent while Melissa Reeves stinks it up is just sad to watch. Members Antoyne
Adrienne's reaction to seeing Jack for the first time earlier this year, trampled all over EVERY SINGLE Jack and Jennifer scene since Ashford returned. Judi Evans is a wasted gem, and I actually used to like Missy Reeves.
Members DRW50
Judi also plays pure emotion very naturally, which is something that DAYS really needs, IMO, as I don't think most of their main actors can do that.
Members Soapsuds
Jack and Jennifer are a bore. They remind of Lily and Holden and their final years on ATWT.
Members DRW50
I think there's just a real lack of energy and interest on her part. Even if she was more invested, it probably wouldn't work, but I'd like to see. It's not fun seeing a 40+ woman trying to be an ingenue (which also annoyed me with Lily, but she makes Lily look like Alice Horton).
Members Antoyne
The worst part of Jack and Jen, is that there is one committed actor and one who doesn't give a [!@#$%^&*].
Members Soapsuds
The problem is that their story has been replayed over and over again. They need to put them back together and have them do something.
Members quartermainefan
He didn't notice Will unhappiness because the scene was about Will's observing them being normal. Maybe they could have directed it better. I would have never shown those two unless it was over Will's shoulder, but I did like how they did close-up on him solo but those two remained in a two-shot. anyway, they make a nice couple you would want to be around and it is easy to see how this was the beginning of an epiphany for Will. Members JaneAusten
They are just another super couple on this show played out.If Jack and Jenn are a main couple on Days now what exactly would their story be, ALl these couples had their days in the sun, Id' much rather have seen Sarah or Melissa Horton come back and bring conflict to MAggie and Victor pre nuptuals vs another story for Jarlena or Jack and Jennifer.I think Bo and Hope were enough of a staple couple on this show and Jarlena and J&J were not needed. Marlena is much more entertaining without John.
Members DRW50
I think that Jennifer should be a vital character, with or without Jack, but Reeves just lacks any spark or presence. She was bad when they tried to keep her around without Jack, and she's bad now. Jennifer/Daniel, Jennifer/Jack, any of it.
Members teplin
I actually liked the Kate/Daniel scenes yesterday. I agree that the show should be playing Kate as threatened by Stefano's continued fascination with Marlena. I also agree that Marlena is a bit too clinical with WIll (and Sami) -- but I think that's good for drama. I also appreciated that John didn't fall for Stefano's mind games re: Marlena. At least he's learned something in the last 25 years. Although I would still prefer John off the show and Marlena on her own. I used to love Missy Reeves, but her return has been very disappointing. As Carl said, she lacks spark -- which she use to have in spades. I haven't watched the show much, but my sense is that Jennifer only returned to Jack out of guilt, she's not in love with him anymore. Is that right? I could see this as a worthy storyline, but from what I've seen, Jennifer isn't trying very hard -- she acts like she's disgusted by Jack. Which makes him look more pathetic. It feels to me like two people who both know the relationship doesn't work anymore but just won't admit it to themselves and each other. Is that what the show is going for? Members DRW50
I think the idea is supposed to be that Jennifer feels perfect love with Daniel and doesn't want to admit she has any connection to Jack. I think the script says deep down she does have a connection to him, but I think Reeves downplays that as much as she can. The biggest problem in all of this is the lack of anything between Jennifer and Daniel (in my opinion). It just seems forced, embarrassing, and there have been too many sleazy relationships with Daniel that revolve around women degrading themselves.
