Awhile ago I put up a topic about the 5 worst stories ever. Certain people weren't too thrilled with that, and it made me think they may be right. So let's talk about everyone's five FAVOURITE stories of all time. Do you think stories like this could be told today successfully?

Details! I'm nosy mostly for creative reasons, wanting to be a writer and all. What elements bring out the best in this genre? etc. etc.

GH The Prometheus Disk.

I loved back in the early 80s and thanks to a great Youtuber I was able to watch practically the entire story again last year. It is my favorite GH story of all time I think and I think it is impossible to not at least find it a fun way to kill some time. It starts out as a simple story starring Luke and Holly. Luke is presumed dead in an avalanche and Holly learns she is pregnant with his child, so Luke's best friend marries her. And from that little story begins this huge event about the communist spies out to steal a disc with the power of a nuke that an absent minded professor is working on. And the spies turns out are within the cast.

Man, Jim Reilly was so masterful with John/Marlena (and Sami/Austin/Carrie too). Five straight years without a missing a beat.

As to your 5th choice...I liked that one too...who was writing it at the time?? Was it King??

The Steve Betsy Craig saga was great as well.

I wish I had been paying more attention back then with who was writing the stories. I didnt start pay attention to the credits until Marland took over.

I loved the Caitlen/Olivia babyswap.

My favorite Beach scene of all time was Caitlen & Olivia's car going over the cliff.

could somebody please explain maison blanche and airmid to me? ive always heard great things about them but never had the chance to watch them. they seem like epic movie titles to me lol i really want to understand the circumstances around them since they seem to be two of the most talked about dool tales!!!

Maison Blanche: Basically Stefano kidnapped John & Marlena and held them prisoner in the dungeon. Stefano was holding another mystery woman in the mansion that Celeste was care taking for. The mystery woman turned out to be a very much alive Hope who was amnesic and believed she was a woman named Gina. Bo & Billie got engaged just as Gina showed up.

Aremid: Is DiMera spelled backwards. It was a town where the DiMera's lived for a long time. Before Aremid, Tony/Andre committed suicide and framed John for his death. He wanted revenge for John stealing Kristen from him. John's trial was sent to Aremid, causing pretty much the entire town being in Aremid. John was sentenced to death by the gas chamber. This was the beginning of the Kristen/John/Marlena love triangle. Marlena had supported John while Kristen gave damning evidence against John which resulted in his guilty verdict. Jack & Jennifer worked together to clear John and found Tony/Andre's diary as John was being gased. Before going into the gas chamber, John wrote a love letter to Marlena which Kristen would later keep from Marlena. A mystery woman dressed in White haunted everyone. It later turned out to be Peter & Kristen's mother Rachel Blake. Hope was "killed" in an avalanche. Jude St. Clare (Who worked for Peter) found Hope and kept her prisoner in a cabin. Lexie also went to Aremid to find out who her father was. She discovered Stefano was her father.

Peter and Kristen grew up in Aremid and everyone went there for Peter and Jennifer's wedding. Tony/Andre was Peter's bestman and after the ceremony he killed himself.

With the glaring exception of the Salem Strangler, these are all love stories ... most of them years in the telling (though Jake-Paulina was cut inexplicably short). Even the Salem Strangler was really all about bringing Roman and Marlena together. This is what daytime did best and this is what daytime all but abandoned in the last 15 years or so. And that is why daytime is dead.
