Well The minium for 60 min soap actors is 931.00 but most newbies get 1000.00 an episode. I wonder If PP wanted the Minium lowered what they wanted it lowered to?

My guess is that PP wanted the minimum lowered. IMO, it should be lowered. A web based soap cannot afford to pay the salaries of a television program and still be profitable.

Yeah but you dont want it too lowered if you follow me. Theres gotta be a good balance in it all

I think I just had a mini orgasm!

First this...

I find funny that people will believe soap bloggers and various mags that just copy an original article and add their spin to it when they quote "sources" and we have no idea who they are but will believe them. PP never realesed a statement blamming actors or unions, that has always been implied by press.

Bottom line even if the unions had found middle ground & more actors like Lucci, VI & MEK agreed to do this, without Money from investors it wasnt gonna happen. It all boils down to dollars and cents. The investors PP looked at werent interested and some that were backed out. Its just a case of a great idea done at the wrong time.

IMHO I apauld all that tried to get the shows from ABC & PP for doing so & trying. ABC never wants these shows to be a success in TV Cable or the web because if they are then they have share holders they have to answer too and admit they were wrong for canning them in the beginning.

And then this...

Jane just because you dont believe thats fine. I was told by soap bloggers thru facebook and twitter that ABC had offers that got turned down and also Heard that Andy Cohen at Bravo looked at the budgets of the shoiws and realized Bravo couldnt afford it . Im not sure If Sony was into or not. Ive heard people say yes and some say no. But even HBS made her tweet said ABC Chose this deal cause it was the net

Finally summed up by this...

But weren't you as guilty believing leaks and such when it was to PP's benefit? You had no issue believing Lucci played hardball did you and who leaked that information. I am not picking on you but it goes both ways. I don't think PP should be viewed as the knight in shining armour you seem to portray them as because these were seasoned Hollywood execs who went in with no viable plan, They might have had good intentions but if so why not just admit defeat and move on. I am not a union advocate but the leaks about the unions being unwilling was just another attempt to deflect responsibility. Are these men evil no. THey are just bad business people. It would have been a hard sell in a viable economy much less one that is struggling. Look at Wall Street and corporations all over America. Everything is tight and no one is spending money. These seasoned exec should have known that based on their years of experience. As for ABC and Disney being evil and such they are also IMO just bad executives also. I just don't see one as any better than the other.

I never blammed actors, unions I have always said Its Money. It doesnt matter if u have actors & unions signed on, If not enough money it wont work. I belive from what I heard from actors and LA Times and NY times the Jeff K article that it was Money. I also believe that since they were looking for money maybe they put union talks on the back burner to finalize the money. Yes I agree communication could have been better, a 100 Percent better but do I truly believe these men went into this wanting it to fail. Hell No. They wanted the soaps to succeed so TOLN would succeed. I also dont buy the ploy thing. Why would two people witrh long histories in this business who probably knew if this didnt work would look bad, knowingly fake this deal that could end up ruining them as businesss men and If It was a ploy with ABC why announce it didnt work and they are bowing out now. Why not wait til after The Revolution airs. Yeah No ploy here. Good Intentions just not the right time.

Actually, you have. You have inferred multiple times that if Susan Lucci had agreed to the venture more investors would have been interested. That is placing blame on Prospect Park's lack of investors on Susan Lucci. The very same Susan Lucci who released a detailed public statement, breaking down her communications with Prospect Park, communications that ceased, from Prospect Park's side, on September 8th.

Furthermore, Prospect Park DID release a statement that placed blame on the unions when it said "After five months of negotiations with various guilds...While we narrowed in on a financial infrastructure, the contractual demands of the guilds, which regulate our industry, coupled with the program’s inherent economic challenges ultimately led to this final decision." BULLSHIT they didn't place blame on the guilds.

John, do you have any info on these offers that ABC rejected because they all could have been weak offers, maybe ABC doesn't want to relinquish their rights. The fact that Andy Cohen of Bravo took a look at the budgets means nothing this is hollywood things like that happen all the time.

I said Susan Lucci defintley having intrest in AMC through PP could help Get Investors I never said it would get investors

If U read PP's statement againit says because of economics and the contractts and Guilds it proved difficult. They gave equal weight to everything. They did not say The Unions were at 100% fault but they are partly to blame. They wanted the online versions to be on par with broadcast minimums which is 931.00 an episode. IMHO thats too much, the minimums needed to be lowered to see profit. So AFTRA said they would be willing to talk but talking without reaching middle grounds does nothing. Plus WGA said they were closer to a deal so PP must have been talking to them

I am friends with some soap bloggers who told me that ABC got offers from others with far more money & experience than PP has. That some wanted to do reboots. Some wanted 13 week arcs. All turned down by ABC

And as Hilary B Smith Tweeted when some asked was this fake/a ruse. She said No. ABC Picked this deal because it was the net

To clarify I dont believe in everything soap bloggers write but the ones that told me this I believe because their actions have shown me they have the sources to back this up

Right. So in fact you can't refute a single issue I have raised. Perfect. Thank you. All ambient noise at this point.

I just have to say this. Stop being a god damn Prospect Park apologist. You don't know what you're talking about. If you know "Jeff & Rich" well enough to refer to them so casually you surely know that their reputations precede them in LA. That LA Times article is a bunch of PR drivel that rearranged things we already knew.

"They didn't have to do that"...are you sure about that? Are you sure that's what their investors, if they even had any, didn't put a first-look clause in with Hulu or Google? And interesting that the Hulu/Google allegations, not facts ALLEGATIONS (until I see a press release from either company saying they declined Prospect Park it's all bullshit) only spring up so late in the PR cycle as everyone takes aim at Prospect Park.

Prospect Park is throwing blame left, right and centre. They are supposedly some sort of martyr in all of this? Nonsense. They didn't communicate with the talent they signed, attempted to blame unions that never left the bargaining table, attempted to slander Susan Lucci after giving her the silent treatment when she wisely insisted on a year commitment for AMC online.

The hatred towards Prospect Park is well placed. They started this venture without the capital necessary to get the deal done! Nobody in LA does that! It's insanity. They had delusions of grandeur and while I am sorry for OLTL and AMC fans, I have nothing but happiness that this has failed for those two, they deserved to have this blow up in their faces because they went into this venture without honour and without money. It's a disgrace.

Most of the cast I don't care about -- but sadly, the odds are we'll never see Jerry VerDorn, Erika Slezak, Robin Strasser or Bob Woods again.

Which is a damn shame, IMO. Unless these actors (not just from OLTL, but from AMC, AS THE WORLD TURNS and GUIDING LIGHT as well) no longer care to work, I'd love to see them again in just about anything (except porn, which would be sad and kind of gross).

At the end of the day ABC wants these soaps gone. They are done and the death march will continue till each one is picked off until the last ones. Honestly IMO soaps can return someday but they will never return in this current form. This FORM is done forever. It makes ZERO FINANCIAL SENSE. ABC is happy the Chew keeps going up in viewers. Its only 100,000 behind AMC on a much cheaper budget. ABC just wants to improve their BOTTOM LINE and it sucks Frons gets the vindication but in the end we won't be vindicted it will be Sweeney/Frons who will spew out facts/numbers why cancelling soaps brought them DINERO to the network.
