Which was the one that posters on here were leary about?? Remember when the news broke and some said one of them wasnt very savvy...

I was one of those who questioned whether Jeff was on the up and up. The minute I read that he was involved, I was suspicious, and I only knew about him being kicked out of The Firm and clashing with and being fired by Kelly Clarkson when he was her manager.

Edgeofnight, I'm sorry that this news brings back painful memories of your father's death.

DaytimeFan, I sincerely appreciate your explanation regarding how the soap press works.

Frankly, if people weren't leery of both of them they don't know the business.

This is why I am shocked that not a single person in the soap press (I'm referring to the online sites like SON that have a good accuracy record, and not the trashy print magazines)--or in the entire entertainment media, for that matter--seemed to question the viability of the PP venture (from the get go).

Given the fact that SON is more reliable than virtually all their competitors, I do not believe that their reputation will damaged in the long-term. I am just surprised that they would make a mistake like this (although--in their defense--everyone else did as well). Though the SON staff has every right to remain silent, I just wish one of its employees would shed some light on how they came to be misled. (Of course, I realize that SON can't reveal any of its sources, and there may be additional things that cannot be discussed due to the restrictions of journalistic ethics.) Any information would be much appreciated.

I remember you mentioning that. This venture didn't have a chance and I think the guys knew it.

This will never happen, but I wish that ABC would give a two hour reunion/finale primetime special (each) for both AMC & OLTL (sometime within the next couple of years). Given that ABC sold the licensing rights to PP in the first place, ABC is not entirely blameless for this fiasco. Becuase of this decision, AMC & OLTL fans were robbed of proper finales and closure. Giving both soaps an opportunity to air true finales is a way ABC can rectify the situation, and would also be a wise way of building up goodwill with disgruntled soap fans.

It mostly depends on what a "true finale" or a "proper finale" would even be. There are soaps that went off the air and everyone knew they were not being picked up and they still had weak finales. OLTL's proper finale would involve things that ABC, RC, and FV would never do, and AMC's finale, aside from the bit at the end, I thought was fine.

Thank you for that very articulate post

I for one believed PP would have some success only because of the execs involved and their longevity in the entertainment industry. I am glad you also honed in on Rich Franks resume. The idea that a person who ran Walt Disney studios was naive to what was involved is as you said ridiculous. I hope we quit hearing how PP is some poor poor victim here. It was a lot of big ego and talk.

I actually feel sorrier for the OLTL folks than the AMC folks.I think they bought into their BS hook line and sinker and were likely taken aback by the fact that these 2 industry "geniuses" appeared so enamored with them. KDP's tweet was interesting in that PP was only on set once with their rah rah and basically they did not maintain any type of contact even with the people they signed which makes Jerry Van Dorns cheerleading even more perplexing.

I am going to give Susan Lucci some credit here or her husband as someone mentioned who likely were aware of the reps of the individuals involved which led to Lucci asking for that year guarantee for the show.

THe entertainment industry is a pit filled with vipers with perhaps a few honest and trustworthy people scattered amongst the vultures.

Don't forget about Jacob Young...he was the first to bolt and remember that interview he gave TV guide I believe.

I dont know that people should judge OLTL's finale until they see it. I think AMC overall was really good and so the gunshot happened and there will never be closure. That honestly doesnt bother me in the least because towards the end the show went back to some of the things that actually made it what it was. ROn Carvalati might shock people. I have a feeling the characters I care most about on OLTL will get a decent ending. VIki, CLint, Nora, Bo - I could honestly care less about Todd and his concumbines at this point so hopefully they are part of the cliffhanger

Little did I know that I would be walking the same path as the Matthews children, when my own mother died on Good Friday (1981) and was laid out on Easter. If that wasn't bad enough, I lost my father, suddenly, 2 1/2 years later on Dec. 21. He was buried on Christmas Eve. A year after I lost my dad, I lost my beloved "Edge of Night.' I will be forever grateful in the knowledge that I was one of only two fans invited to the studio on their final taping day. So, as you can imagine, the holidays are very difficult for me. My mom's birthday is Nov. 30 (She would have been 88).

I know a little bit about what you are going through. I lost my grandmother, someone very close to me on Christmas Day. then my aunt's mother who always spoke highly of me died on Thanksgiving day a few years later. it's not easy. OLTL's Viki is apart of my family (at least my own mind) so this news yesterday was pretty sad. I hate that this will probably be the final thanksgiving and christmas episodes that i will see her in. it's a cold reality when my heart is saying "oh year they are trying to bring the soaps back" and my mind saying, "Face it, the battle is over We lost!" It's like loosing someone to death or whatever, sometimes it doesn't really sink in until after the funeral, when you have to get on with your life and you realize just how much apart of your dailey life they affected.

True but I think in his case he followed the paycheck and the other part was he knew what he was walking into overall as he worked with Brad Bell before.

It was I who raised Helmut Huber's name. There is a reason so few AMC actors signed on and I have no doubt in my mind that the reason is Helmut Huber and Susan Lucci. They knew a joke when they saw one and balked at Prospect Park's ridiculous business model that was about as realistic as a hippopotamus balancing on an ice cube.

Jacob Young and Debbi Morgan very likely heeded the advice of Huber and Lucci and bolted to the Bell soaps where at least a paycheque was guaranteed.

The entertainment business is hell in Los Angeles. And really, only in LA is it this disgusting. London, Vancouver and all around the world there is a collegial environment and enough government regulation that these games aren't played nearly as much. The people I feel sorry for are the investors who invested even a dime with Prospect Park's daytime venture, that is if they ever had investors at all, of which I have my doubts.

There will be no apologies, no primetime specials, no reunions, no explanations. I advise everyone to just forget this mess, you will never have "justice," nor will you ever be satisfied with what you hear regarding Prospect Park and The Online Network's roles in the conclusions of One Life to Live and All My Children. Both shows are done.

So brutal. So true.
