I have to admit to being fascinated with the desire some people have to keep these two employed. IMO, recycling worn out, played out failures is part of what's killed this genre. RC should just see if he can get his scriptwriting gig at GH back. If not, here's a thought, perhaps he could move on. He likes writing science-fiction. Syfy has original series. Showtime has Dexter.
