I hope the folks at Prospect Park aren't watching OLTL or AMC right now. I wouldn't want them to rethink the whole deal.

Unless, of course, you [!@#$%^&*] up the retcon. ;-)

Yep. Ted Clayton. Notorious drug kingpin who tried to marry Viki in order to solidify his cartel, I think. (It's been awhile, so I might have the facts mixed up.) I get the impression Ted wasn't much of a husband or father.

From Wikipedia (for what it's worth):

Tina's father, Ted Clayton, comes to town under the guise of reuniting with his daughter but with an ulterior motive — to somehow con Viki and Tina out of as much money as he can. Ted pits himself against Clint Buchanan, who had taken more than a professional interest in widowed Viki. When Ted learns that Clint is about to propose marriage to Viki, he arranges to have Tina kidnapped to distract and get close to Viki, and of course get his hands on the ransom. Tina is safely returned home, and Ted proposes to Viki. Flustered but touched by his request, Viki opts for time to consider the offer. Clint drops out of the romantic triangle, but tries to convince Viki that Ted is deceiving her. When Viki realizes that she is in love with Clint, Ted drugs her. He is arrested as the head of a counterfeiting ring but escapes from jail. When Ted is later killed in 1981, a traumatized Tina leaves town.

Dammit this is far too confusing! As a fan who's watched for only three years, I don't feel it should be on me to go look up all these tiny details of characters and facts I'm not familiar with to piece this story into something sensible. F you writers!

Even worse, there are other newer viewers out there who are taking Irene's explanation as gospel w/o clear knowledge or understanding of the facts. And what happens when you don't bother giving accurate details, President Bush?

Cue Cutter and Aubrey, the kids Viki had when Ted impregnated her.

I really wish I could remember what if anything was said about Tina (not?) noticing her mom was pregnant. We must remember, Irene's pregnancy could not have happened when Tina was living with Viki in Llanview because, duh, Victor was already dead (and dead by original Todd Lord s/l, not Heart of a Lord crap). But maybe she had in fact been away from her mother for a while. I don't recall. And maybe I'm making this up, but I seem to have a shred of memory about Victor getting her pregnant while she was with Ted Clayton which was a major sticking point and that's what led to her giving him to Peter?

Well Viki does have a history of forgetting about kids she's given birth to...

I don't think we should be factoring Kevin's age into this story; as he has nothing to do with it. However, while, yes -- in *real time* Kevin was only 2 years old when 16 year old Tina showed up in 1978...in the middle 90s, around the time when Todd's birth year was established as 1970, it was stated that Kevin (Marty and Rachel) were all the same age. So that would mean that Kevin was born in 1970 and - like Todd - was rectoned to be only 8 years younger than Tina.

* shrugs *

But again, Kevin's age shouldn't be factored into any of this in an attempt to rationalize it. We should just go with what we know about the players in this story, and what we know is that Todd was born in 1970, and that Tina (based on her age in 1978...and the fact that she was never SORAS'd) was born in 1962. I doubt many people who're 8 years older than their sibling can't recall their mothers being pregnant. 8 year olds are sophisticated enough to be aware of things like that.

There was a good Ted Clayton ep on WoST, maybe it's on YouTube. It was Robin Strasser's early days when she delivered her lines with sort of a Nancy Pinkerton cadence.

Wait, Victor had two different death dates?

Irene mentioned that Victor wanted nothing to do with her. Maybe they meant cause of Ted but chose not to elaborate in the episode itself.

All I know is that Tina was supposed to be 16 years old when she first arrived in 1978. That would make her 49 now (in real time anyway). But, with SORASing, it's anybody's guess....lol.

Oh boy I just did some searching and the man that showed up in 1980 claiming to be Ted Clayton was actually some con artist named Tom Clarkson that pretended to be her father. WTH happened to the real Ted? Is he alive out there somewhere, waiting for Ron C to bring him on for the next round of retcons?

Victor originally died in the 80s and then was revived in 2003 and died that year

Victor originally died in 1976.

The writers brought him back to life briefly in 2003, only to kill him off again.

Thanks much, Scotty, for Ted Clayton's backstory. Just by looking it up on wikipedia, you've done more research than RC has on the current story.

Well at least this Todd stuff on OLTL is interesting sure its confusing but it has people interested. AMC is just one big back from the dead hole of suck now.
