Good for OLTL. OLTL, AMC, and B&B all up in their key demo while Y&R and GH are stagnant and Days down. Not that week to week means much or that any of this does anymore. Needless to say I think OLTL is carrying that lineup these days. It proves that a good compelling story involving compelling characters(Todd on OLTL, Sami/Nicole - the baby switch on Days) pulls people in not big names(Vanessa or Genie) or events which don't keep people engaged for the long haul.

omg OMG omg OLTL is kicking ass and taking names to the bank. WAS ABC CRAZY TO CANCEL THIS SHOW? The show is hotter then ever and it continues a 16 week beating GH. Thats four months guys and the show is so strong. OLTL is too good for the web. IMO OLTL should be a primetime show, I would tune into watch it. Props to Frank and Ron they are just going out on TOP and with a huge bang. ITS UNBELIEVABLE HOW OLTL is leaving other soaps in the dust.

For this one week only, all this hype about OLTL being "on fire" in the ratings actually has some merit to it. This doesn't mean that ABC was "crazy" to cancel OLTL, however (especially given the fact that TPIR and The View regularly crush it in the ratings, and that LMAD sometimes beats it as well).

I think OLTL did was smart was slow build Roger's return to climax two months later. Ron/Frank knew we have waited years for this return and they aren't dissapointing. Brenda's 2002 return was great very impactful and VM did her best acting in that return. This last return was just horrible from the beginning absolutely a total botchjob. OLTL DOESN'T DESERVE its cancellation. U know other soaps have been cancelled and fan outcry has never done a thing to reverse it. Honestly IMO its these great continued ratings that should make ABC look and say MAYBE we made a mistake. OLTL has been under budget for 3-4 years and is doing better then far expensive soaps.

Its more because this was a story waiting to be told. I'd venture to guess if RH just came in and replaced TSJ you would not have gotten any uptic. And while I adore VM, what story was waiting to be told with her return? Reuniting with Sonny? Who cared about that? I say the same for Genie Francis if she came back. GH already played their big return stories, in 2002 when Brenda came back from the dead and that did raise ratings and when Laura came out of her vegitative state for the 25th anniv wedding. Even Laura's permanent recovery did nothing for ratings when they sent Laura off to France. They already played the bring old vets back with Robert, Anna, Felicia in years past.

For GH all they can do is bring a Q back from the dead like AJ. What other cards to they have? But then AJ was not a hugely popular character and I don't think Alan at this stage coming back from the dead would do squat. They had the chance with Emily a couple of years back and went another riduculous route. Even bringing original Carly back to play another character did squat.

2 Todds has been a story RC talked about and its finally playing out. And the pace had been decent and it involves all their lead actors for the most part. Even John McBain is half interesting again.

OLTL only has ONE good storyline and that's Todd vs Todd. The only reason ratings are peaking is because obviously people are interested in the return of RH and to see how the story plays out. Take that away and OLTL is still the same soulless show it's always been. People using these ratings as justification for ABC not to cancel these shows is laughable.

If PP is really smart they would use TSJ as an antagonist to RH to keep the momentum since that's all this show has going for it.

B&B is really up. Y&R is doing pretty good. Every day B&B was over 3 million that says a lot though OLTL beat it on Monday. Good day on Monday for OLTL buy those numbers sure did fall off. I even notice AMC is going through a surge of its own. ANd Poor Days. 2.1 million on friday. Last in the demo. They got a lot of work to do. Cant wait to see what JNewt has to say

The thing is OLTL was rising before Roger's return. The Bully storyline was pulling in good solid numbers for OLTL and Gigi's death. So u can't make that case it was all Roger. OLTL set in motion back in April 2011 after cancellation. Everyone balked at the big increases as I did but show has consistently beaten in viewers GH which has a far more expensive cast. U all keep saying this and it fails with the numbers consistently going up and up. After awhile u need to start to notice. OLTL should not have been cancelled PERIOD. GL was a dying dog, AW was going down tubes, ATWT had life in it but had waned but OLTL is going out with a HUGE VENGENCE/BANG.

    • I do think she's been pretty wrecked, having tried to kill someone in cold blood, letting her whole family (including the woman pregnant with her great-grandchild) get charged or questioned, and having no remorse, but it doesn't matter as much because Kathy has not existed as a character since Gillian's return anyway.  There are reasons to bring Max back, like Lauren and his not knowing he had a child with Linda, but he is exhausted, with Jake Wood phoning it in years before he left.  I am a little surprised about Zoe because Michelle Ryan said for years she didn't want to return, to the point of even asking the show to recast the role, but I guess this may only be a short stint. I wouldn't be shocked if they kill Zoe off.
    • HAHAHA. Yeah, that's my bad. I misread that line. Sorry about going into "Unnecessary" detail about my username. Anyway, I love the story behind your Username.    reading on my phone...

    • Completely agree with you. I think Bonita Brisker has been really good as Sharon. What Anita did was obviously awful, so she doesn't need to reign anything in. We're getting a good look at someone who's struggled in life compared to Anita "We're the Duprees!" Williams.   -- Anita is starting to look foolish for dredging all this up just so she  can get her ass back on stage. Is she so delusional she doesn't realize how she hurt Sharon and Tracy? -- Anita's line to Vernon "How can I expect Sharon to forgive me when I haven't forgiven myself" struck me as really selfish. After all that with Sharon, Anita again made it all about herself. -- Does anyone really believe Anita wants equal billing if the Articulettes reunite?  -- Colby Muhammad continues to be a standout. Her Kat more than holds her own with Leslie. -- The writing was very good for the father/daughter scene between Ted and Eva. It wasn't so good between Ted and Martin in their father/son scene. It didn't play like family to me, especially when Ted referred to "my wife" when talking about Nicole to Martin. -- Overall, a very solid show today.
    • I honestly do not see the point of Max coming back again. Zoe does not surprise me. I've been waiting for that since Bionic Woman flopped in the US, frankly. I'm not against it vs. some other pointless returns. Some returns work and some don't, some are just there. Like, am I grateful that Kathy is alive? Yes, absolutely. Do I love any of her stories? No. But she's not utterly destroyed, she's just there.
    • I think Frank probably wanted to try for Jonathan with Kate Mansi. I actually can't knock the idea of a Lucky/Kristina affair or flirtation on paper, as a romantic obstacle to LNL2, but not with the characters in the places they are at present or have been over the last few years. It would be a mistake to do right now and would poison the well. I think Jonathan probably made it clear when he came back that he wanted what had been promised to him years ago with Elizabeth, and between his not being one of FV's preferred focal leads and Liz being a grudging afterthought if she's not with one of his OLTL stars, I suspect FV was content to leave them where they are vs. where they should be, which is central on the show. It's like I said a few days ago: A lot of this is how Lulu has always been. But back in the day the issue was that Lulu (and Carly) were deified for it, whereas now it's that Lulu is just used as the heavy because FV has a preexisting favoritism for Setton/BLQ. And that's a waste of a key character and talent, namely Alexa Havins.
    • Melanie Smith was very difficult to replace, but as KMH did last for a long time, she clearly managed to do so. I preferred Melanie, but the main issue with Kelley is I just think she was horribly written for most of the time. Initially the writing wasn't horrible, it's more she was not the right choice, but over time the writing genuinely became awful, and unplayable, with a few exceptions (I think her pairings with Chris and Hal worked and got to take her in some new directions).
    • Coming into June and...   TRASH. Or as I like to say for moments like this...HUNNI, WHAT IS THIS?   Outside of seeing Traci come home...and then...Ashley...not a darn thing is going on. So they are clearing stalling now, aren't they? It really hit me during the Phyllis/Daniel scenes. It was feeling like a B&B scene where two characters have the same repetitive conversation. And I have not seen Phyllis/Daniel scenes in that light lately so yeeeeah NOPE.   I did like the touch of Traci arrived outside of the Abbott mansion door and taking a breath and looking around. Very aftereffects of Martin. And I liked her and Diane having their conversation about Martin. I wished JG had allowed Traci to stay in town to deal with her feelings about Martin so at least we are getting some follow-up on that.    And same with Ashley and her talk with Jack. I will take Eileen Davidson anyway I can get her. Dare I say...will she be around for the Dumas reveal?   Outside of...   Kyle, Claire, and Harrison in a park IS NOT a storyline.   Sharon having to use the phrases (and in text) with Nick dinner as friends IS NOT a storyline.   Giggly Heffa giggly-heffa-ing around town IS NOT a storyline.    With Damian MIA and my love of Eileen Davidson...I might just go on break until the Dumas reveal if this is how we are starting June.
    • Dragging this quote over from the Texas thread just because it shows a reference to Bay City as a fictional location at least as early as 1981. It doesn't quote Gail Kobe as saying it directly but the point she is making about the Houston setting of Texas does seem to take it for granted that Bay City is not real.
    • It's too bad they couldn't get access to the old music cues from the 80s and 90s, to run with the flashbacks or in the current scenes. That would have added a lot. Imagine if they had played the old Roman and Marlena theme.
