I kind of think Prospect Park may have put themselves into a financial corner taking on AMC and OLTL (and GH in the future) instead of doing new shows because of the license fees they'll have to pay ABC, which I would assume are not cheap. I hope ABC is not taking them to the cleaners on the licensing aspect.

Obviously this is all speculation. I am sure they have some decent venture capital also. At the end of the day government grant venture capital or not. They will have to make money. THe reason so many internet companies went bust in the early 2000's was because they were venture capital heavy upfront and ended up sucking up all that investment with no return and went bust.I am not saying these will fail my only point was whether they have a grant or capital or not they will have to be profitable in the long run. The problem with the shows as they currently are on ABC, CBS, etc is that they are no longer profitable or profitable enough for the broadcast networks.Just because The Talk or The Chew or whatever might fail doesn't mean soap operas during daytime are still the answer. I honestly hope if they land on Bravo they run them at an alternate time. Also reading information on that internet show on Netflix Kevin Spacey is going to be in and how they are going to offer that its kind of intriguing. They also need to consider the seasonal aspect of these shows and packaging them for DVD at some point.

Well when you consider the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities both give grants for TV and film projects, it's not completely unfathomable that Prospect Park might have gotten a grant for something. We don't really know what other projects they have on the back burner. I'm reminded of the PBS series American Family starring Edward James Olmos and Sonia Braga. They got quite a bit of public and private grant money. A lot of which later got pulled because of politics around the show's portrayal of the Iraq War. So IF Prospect Park got government money, that's not necessarily a good thing for those of us who are looking for the genre to take more risks.

I came across some drops on another board from someone who seems to be an insider. He's giving some idea of what PP has in mind. Not positive if I can give the link, but if not I'm sure Toups will let me know. Looks like they are thinking of going the tela novella model, if this person is right:

AFTRA WGA And DGA have signed Off on this deal thats how PP was able to present proposals to AMC & OLTL and How SL got the first contract offer.

PP is keeping the same as ABC 5 days a week 52 weeks a year

Im not sure if they will go the Port Charles arc way or not but each show will have 52 weeks, 5 days a week

I wouldnt be opposed to 13 week stories but they would have to be well written
