I am not going to make any assumptions as to how far apart or how close they are to settling things. It would be silly for PP to stop in their tracks until this is worked out which is why they have likely continued to move forward. I do know that Aftra is a fairly weak union compared to SAG and thats part of the reason most of the shows on cable are goverened under Aftra and not SAG. Just from Jacob Youngs comments about Aftra and the actors meeting with them after their initial meeting with PP personal indicated that. I am sure it will be settled but I think this idea that there has to be guarantees is a dated mentality. In my opinion its hurt the shows more than helped as it has forced shows to overuse certain actors over the more recent years and drop vets. And who's to say the actors have any desire to be locked in.

The idea that the actors have to commit and then if they aren't used they get no money (and they can't get another job) would be a stumbling block. If that's the case the union having a fit is understandable. While I understand being paid for work, if you are sat on the bench and get nothing that's not good. The union (and some actors for that matter) could fear that PP is going to "hire" big names use them a very short time than sit them for no money. For some reason, I could see that happening and people going crazy. Actor or Actress XYZ is why I am watching this show, they're in the promos, but we haven't seen them in 3 months. Yikes.

MOst people watch for stories and characters not actors. If Cameron Mathison or Lindsey Hartley were gone for 3 months while an arc with Erica, Zach and Kendall played out I would have no objection to that nor do I think the audience would either as long as the stories were engaging.I love Lindsey Harley but I didn't watch a lot of her on AMC becuase the show bored me to tears

All this back and forth with guarantees is another reason I'm hoping that PP will go to a seasonal format. I know that some people don't think people will come back after a break but basically every other show is seasonal and people come back. Look at True Blood, they do what 12 shows a feaking year and believe me a lot of people, myself included, only watch that show online.

Someone mentioned that in the AMC thread. That to me is not a good sign or it could be if they are looking outside the genre. BUt what is she doing at OLTL being a scriptwriter? I hope they are not thinking of letting RC goto PP and LB take over OLTL. He would be a disaster for that show.

    • It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation. I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.
    • Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster. Congratulations to Austria. 0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over

    • Hahaha Sorry if I was too negative, I just started typing and typing once I got going hahaha
    • @dc11786 Thanks for taking time to answer my various questions, along with giving your thoughts on the different writing teams. I wonder why they didn't just have Ryder and TR leave together if Jane was going anyway. The discussions over the last few pages have made me more interested in watching these episodes than I have been over the years - without the extra details and analyses provided, these years can be difficult to decipher (not helped by how often Jo seems like a side character).
    • I didn't think this was very good (I've never yet seen a good episode of this revival), but you do get a lot of Michael Stroka. And if you are a Donna Reed Show fan, you also get Paul Petersen.

    • A very rare, fascinating look at camera blocking in a 1980 episode. Very loose, almost startlingly so (who expects to see Will Vernon with a cig dangling out of his mouth?). @vetsoapfan There's some Jacquie Courtney content in the back half of the video.

    • Thanks @Paul Raven  I concur that this isn't the most interesting material, but I do wish I could see how JoBeth Williams played those trial moments.
    • If I remember correctly, they were interrupted before Nicole could reveal what the third thing was. I remember feeling like it was an intentional interruption, too.
