FV is a whiz at stretching a buck and producing a show on a budget, I just never saw him as any visionary.

I've seen no sign of FV's real creative vision for OLTL outside of all that singing crap which he gushes over in interviews. The himbos may be him or Frons. It's hard to tell.

The headwriters and Frons been in charge of OLTL's creative direction. Without Frons and ABC's horrible habits, it will be interesting if PP gets away from their big name obsession. Anyone can be recast except Erica, Luke and Laura IMO, and fans would adjust IF the story was good enough.

In terms of casting new roles, losing JBW probably isn't a big deal (assuming she is replaced by someone halfway competent). But losing the relationships she has with so many former AMC actors and actresses from the last 2 decades is a big deal. Especially when the show is likely going to need substantial re-population.

And she was one of the only, if not the only, longtime production people AMC had left. Julie Carruthers, Hope Harmel Smith, Nadine Aronson, and Enza Dolce all started in the 2000s. AMC has essentially lost all its pre- 2000 production people.

If PP wants some Power how about Bringing Genie Francis and Jackie Zeman over to the shows as their GH roles Laura and Bobbie. They could move to Llanview or PV to start the next chapter in their lives. Bobbie's son, Lucas can come too

Ha, I guess AMC gets a new Casting Director once every twenty years. Joan D'Incecco was replaced with JBW because the show wanted a fresh shot in the arm. I think Kelly Ripa was Joan's last big find. It will be very interesting if they hire primetime/film CDs who've never worked the grind of soaps. A Head CD's job won't be all that more difficult, and maybe PP will for budgetary reasons cut back on extras and U/5s so the associates will have a more primetime-like workload anyway.

    • Was Angela still on the show at that point? I think I caught some of the show on Lifetime or TNT  when they reran the series, and Angela never seemed to be on during the last season. I remember thinking it felt the like the last season was a completely different show and that Wendy Philips was too grounded of an actress (not a criticism) for a nighttime soap.    I don't understand the concept because I don't think most people channel hop. I can understand wanting Alfonso's popularity to rub off, but why engender bad feelings by firing Ana Alicia and bringing on Alfonso? Soap execs never learned that lesson. Like Ellen Parker a few years later, I don't think they realized Ana Alicia's popularity.
    • I think they tended to run the cast list once a week, but I don't know if it had a consistent day.
    • Does Search for Tomorrow ever list the cast in its end credits? I watched about fifteen videos from 1985 to look at the cast credits at the end and I never saw any except for Mary Stuart's credit. I try not to google cast members if there's a chance I might watch a soap so I don't spoil exits.
    • Jeez louise, they overdid it with the music in late 1985. Wendy's self-loathing episode on Dec. 6 is "underscored" (if we can call it that) to the end theme from Scarface, of all movies.
    • It's always hot when he's onscreen
    • True. So it must be the heat.   LOL. Oh, you.
    • That's a lousy ad. They didn't even choose good headshots. That's the least attractive I've seen Gregory Harrison look in his entire career. He looked hotter on GH last year! And CBS would keep bringing over ABC or NBC actors (more often ABC) for their soaps, further gutting their identities. Sad all around. Of course, they are the only network to have more than one soap on the air, so who am I to judge?
    • He always looks a snack to me lol!  Yes Blue is his color for sure! Those arms of his are huge *must not think dirty thoughts*
    • Maybe trying to ramp up the nostalgia factor? The only original characters left on the show were Angela, Lance, and Chao-Li. But FC hadn’t been watched by too many since 1987 and the finale didn’t bring back any old living characters like Emma, Cole, Peter Stravos etc.
    • 5-13   That was kinda meh except for the coda. Liam figuring out that Hope knows he's dying. And ending it on that. Good acting.   Oh, Luna. smh. But I guess I do look forward to see how she expects to wiggle her way into Finn's life. And uh oh at Sheila and seeing the wheels start to turn again. Honestly, he's been looking like a whole snack the last few weeks. And I can't decide if it's just the heat here lol or if he's just been working out more than usual.  But blue and shades of it has been such a great color on him.
