If he is going to play a big part in this I'd think we would have heard more about it by now, but who knows. I also think that they would have been less likely to pick up both shows, since Frons always seems most interested in AMC (or GH, then AMC). How awful if that man is still going to infest what is left of OLTL and AMC.

Well its not like these PP people are not or were not affiliated with Disney, I mean why the name Prospect Park? Weren't they tied to Frons? Or maybe I just think I read that somewhere. But knowing Frons he will be the one to take credit for saving OLTL and AMC

It's just strange because he didn't give any hints of this when the shows were canceled and instead behaved as if soaps were old crap and it was time for new programs to tell us how fat and stupid we are.

LOL of course ABC is going to have some control, otherwise they would have just sold the soaps outright to PP. No way they'll keep their hands out of this.

Dragonflies, +1,000 for admitting the unpopular reality of the matter.

With all due respect, anybody who thought that ABC was planning to take a "hands-off" attitude (regarding creative input) was most likely engaging in wishful thinking. If ABC no longer cared about AMC & OLTL, they would have sold them to PP.

I read on another board that Frons is on the board of PP.

I am sure whatever board you read that at was spouting straight bull.

ABC is only sitting back collecting the licensing fees. These shows are no longer apart of ABC Daytime, Frons has no control.

They would make more money collecting the licensing fees for years to come instead of outright selling them. ABC doesn't want to relinquish the full rights to these shows have them become successes elsewhere and not get a piece of the pie.

Frons has publicly spoken about the shows since the PP deal was announced. If he was apart of it he would have said so a couple weeks back when they were unveiling the fall shows and he talked about how good they had "taken care" of the soaps for the past 40 years.

Maybe they want to keep it quiet for fear of scaring off remaining viewers LOL. I don't think he is, but it wouldn't shock me if he was. I read that one of the guys that is part of PP used to work for Disney though

If that's true, there's no point in even considering watching these shows.

IMO, this statement makes no logical sense. There are so many folks here who are currently watching the Nixon soaps, even though the despised Frons is the one completely in charge. Yet, if Frons is merely on the board of PP, all those who currently watch AMC or OLTL should boycott these soaps upon their move to the internet?

ABC is in a hands off stance with the shows the minute they leave ABC. If, and I do mean a big IF, anyone currently from Disney was part of the Prospect Park board overseeing this venture (which is still being formed, BTW), it wouldn't be Frons...it would be Bob Iger and/or Anne Sweeney, or the person who oversees Disney/ABC Domestic Television Group that helped facilitate the licensing between the two companies.

We know Frons, there's no way he would be able to keep quiet about this if he was somehow involved. Plus it's obvious ABC really doesn't want in on the soap world anyway--and it also makes sense why they would license it instead of selling it. (Add to that could PP even afford at this point to buy the shows outright, if they were even given the option? It makes more sense to license them and see how they do for a substantially lower cost).

Thanks for setting that straight. I can't help but wonder how anyone thinks ABC will have any control once the shows are off of ABC. How does it make any kind of sense?
