God Macy's end was so pathetic. They must have had a horrible fight behind the scenes for them to write her off like this. I forgot how sudden and absurd it was... like a bad telenovela. 2003 continues to make us suffer. But me and the husband are fighting to finish it. The writing is so bad, at times even worse than today.

@Maxim How you are able to watch anything after 1999 is amazing to me. I tried but I couldn't get back into it at all.

Thanks, do you remember if she had chemistry with her adversary in that role? She definitely seemed like she could thrive in an ABC style show if she had the right role.

I too assumed she was written out. The show had Brooke,Taylor, Macy who were popular in that age range. Plus the Karen experiment that didn't work out in the end. I couldn't see Bell prioritizing a woman who couldn't sleep with Ridge, Eric or Thorne during that era.

Felicia was basically a straight up replacement for Kristen. The actress who played Kristen was incapable of upping her game opposite Susan Flannery, so I doubt the Kristen/Felicia relationship would have had any juice.

Kristen/Clarke/Mick was easily the worst storyline to that point - taking the dubious honor from the Kristen/Clarke/Margo triangle. It would have been insanity to put those 2 in a 3rd triangle. I'm glad they put Clarke into Sally's orbit - not only did it make his character more interesting, but more importantly it gave Darlene Connolly great material.

Why does there have to be horrible behind the scenes drama for an actor to leave any soap?

It's a job like any other job. Some stay forever, some are there for a while, others are fleeting. Some get their contracts renewed, and some don't. It doesn't mean there was BTS drama if someone leaves after 10-15 years or so. If people couldn't leave whether through resignation or just not getting a new contract, we'd have the same cast as 1987 except for the ones who have died. Departures keep the show fresh and allows new blood to enter. Bell always keeps the main cast at around 20. That means people come, and people go.

Except that I'm not saying there needs to be drama for "an actor to leave a soap". This sounds like I was making an empty statement and generalizations. I'm saying that I KNOW there was drama for this particular person. Please don't put words in my mouth. The way they killed her off was absolutely hardcore after investing an entire year to get her back from the dead. And I'm basing what I said on what I know of Bradley Bell behind the scenes, and what fans have told me through the years. I've heard bits and pieces about this "drama" for years and now seeing how they killed her off... it really confirmed it for me. You don't eliminate a character who you bring back from the dead and make leading for an entire year... In the span of 3 episodes... Just because people come and go.

That got a ton of attention at the time, speculation, and confusion. As you said, very sudden, on top of Macy being written so differently in that stint.

Yup. She was being written as Brooke's worst nightmare one second... telling people she will help her mother get back her company (Brooke had just stolen Spectra and renamed it Logan Designs) and all of a sudden, this new character pops up out of nowhere... Ozzy... and Macy is killed off miserably in 3 episodes by a freaking chandelier hitting her straight on the skull. How brutal. Nobody can tell me this is the usual ebb and flow of a soap opera and people just coming and going... Absolutely not. It was clear to me this was a last minute decision and reeked of bitterness. Bradley Bell style.

I think we are slowly turning into masochists, LOL. 2002 was veeery strong compared to 2003... It felt like the entire show followed Taylor to the grave when she died at the end of 2002. Something just shifts... and then we get Macy's return which was very sloppy in my opinion. Aaaaaand then we get into the really disgusting incest stuff with Ridge in love with Bridget... and that's when I start calling for SOS.

I wouldn't think to put words in your mouth. But you ARE speculating without any facts whatsoever. And they are words coming out of my mouth for the record.

Well, to me... the strange way they killed her is a fact. It was unnatural and too sudden and reeked of something going on. Add to that things I've been told about this through the years, of course I start thinking of what may have happened. And that is not speculation. That's theorizing based on information coming from what I've seen on the screen and what I've been told by other fans. I don't think there is anything wrong in that. This is a discussion board, It's a place where people regularly theorize, give their ideas or perception of things and yes, sometimes even speculate and say stuff we can't be 100 percent sure about. I've read people claiming stuff that has no way of being proven... since it happened years and years ago and I've seen others agree and praise them for the "tea". But I was not doing this, I was merely commenting on something I was watching and confirming for myself something I was thinking for years... and sharing it with you guys. I, in no way... claim that what I think is the absolute truth. There is no such thing as absolute truth in message boards. It's points of view.

I don't see a reason for us to get petty with this. I plan to continue being polite, since I've always loved your contributions to the topic. The only thing I had an issue with about your comment is how you, maybe unintentionally... made it seem like I've made a general comment that there should always be drama with actors leaving. I can try to call Bobbie Eakes and Bradley Bell and organize a press conference where I'm sure you'll get facts about what happened... I'll try... But I doubt it will happen.

How time flies... I can't believe soon we'll be seeing the 40th anniversary. It makes me feel old.
