I'm not at all surprised Mandisa was gone. And I don't think it has anything to do with her.."anti-gay" mention..or whatever the hell it was. She SUCKED. That is that.

She is good, but didn't do good enough on Tuesday to get people's votes. Goodbye and good riddance. :)

I didn't say ban country music from the show, just ban the country music themed week. If an artist wants to be country like Carrie Underwood, Josh Gracin, Kellie Pickler... that's fine.

Taylor can sing, but the last 3 weeks he has sucked majorly and should've been in the final 3. Kellie should've been in the final 3 for 3 times.

I don't think Katherine McPhee should win either. Despite whatever positive comments Simon may throw at her from time to time, she just doesn't have that unique *it* factor that makes her stand out. She's just there, IMO, and her voice isn't very distinguishable (is that a word? ;) )

I hope Taylor doesn't end up being in the top 2 either, cuz he just has a schtick going on that will eventually grow old.

I agree about Ace's weird stares. He's trying to have that exotic, sexy pout but it just isn't working and it comes across like he's trying to stare through the TV screen and steal your soul. He's got a great soap opera look to him, though, so he can be a print model and work his way up. I also am not a big fan of his falsetto high pitches. It looks and sounds painful, like he's straining to reach those notes. And I'm always waiting for his voice to eventually crack.

I do like Paris and I think she's a cutie-patootie, especially now that she's back to her short 'do.

Kellie. Ugh. She lost my support after the ballsy thing. So desperate and forced. You're not foolin' me.

Chris. :::SWOON::: No matter who manages to steal the most votes, he will have a bright future in the music industry. He's got a very strong, powerful voice that has a unique sound to it. And he's very marketable with his naturally sexy looks. No forced pouts are needed there.

Elliot. Always forget about him. And that's the thing. He's forgettable. Unless you remember him as "the one with the weird face".

Oh, wow, I was just reading that Katharine doesn't have the unique "it" factor LOL. Katharine is sexy, flirty, and tons of fun with an amazing voice. The girl has it all over the other two imho and many, many others views. Chris is totally amazing and should win unless he fails between now and then. I like Taylor, but he is falling back while amazingly Ace is creeping forward. It will be interesting to see next Tuesday.

ITA with you. I'm not sure about Taylor though because he has been falling behind, so I have Paris before Taylor. But, I think Chris will win and Katharine will be second.....or the other way around LOL.

I read that somewhere, too, DaysFanJean, and I agree that it's not necessarily true. I can see her making it somewhere in the entertainment industry but I'm not sure if that's the music industry--just yet.

She has good soap opera appearance, though.

As for Chris, I don't get the hype. He's Butt Ugly.

And as for Ace, I agree with a comment I read somewhere that suggested his looks are scarier than they are sexy, as he most likely intended them. It's even been said that his deep stares are almost like he's trying to steal your soul, like the Hecuba story on "Passions" and how she stole Kay's soul. Well, I completely agree with that estimation. Ace is just one creepy, full-of-himself ass.

And did you see that he got a cameo on UPN's "Half & Half" for being such a narcissistic !@#$%^&*]? Honestly!

I don't think they should ban the Country week, it CAN be done if these people pick the right songs. If La Toya Jackson, the least country person in the world can release a country album, then none of these people should have a problem. Hell, they couldn't even get it right with songs from the past six fricking years. That's just ridiculous, IMO.

On the topic of Katherine, I think she is gorgeous and has that "it" factor in spades. Her voice is also amazing, I think she could be a huge huge pop star.

For the latest in Mandisa's potentially anti-gay stuff, here's an interview with major gay magazine The Advocate, well the important bits:

It's a shame, she could've carved a nice niche out for herself in the gay community which I'm sure is a large part of her fanbase.

Queen is gonna be worse than country night lol Queen's music is so theatrical it's going to be hilarious watching everyone except Chris muck them up.

Anyone want to make predictions on what they will sing?

I would go with ...

Chris - Bohemian Rhapsody or The Show Must Go On (And he will rock)

Ace - Killer Queen (perfect for his falseto voice)

Taylor - Fat Bottom Girls

Kellie - We Will Rock You

Elliott - We Are The Champions or I Was Born to Love You

Katharine - I Want to Break Free

Paris - These Are The Days of our Lives

Bucky - Another One Bites the Dust

I don't mind country night. Fantasia's Always on My Mind is one of my all-time favorites.

By the way Carrie Underwood's debut album has now sold over 3 million copies after 5 months. Kelly Clarkson's latest album has sold 5 million in about 16-17 months.

I can see the Pickle doing Crazy Little Thing Called Love and turning it into a hillbilly anthem.

I wonder what Brian May and the other remaning band members would think.

They need to do Metallica night. I bet you some of these people would be gone in a heartbeat!

    • The speculation……….very entertaining.
    • I had forgotten that several Days stars came out strong against Melissa. Good for them!
    • That would have made sense. Did all these characters get dropped when DePriest left or had they already been dropped?
    • The other issue with Missy: in June 2020, she "liked" some social media posts by Candace Owens -- things Candace said that were against Black Lives Matter.  That is described here https://tvline.com/news/melissa-reeves-racism-days-of-our-lives-instagram-controversy-2894568/ I don't know if that was ever resolved.
    • She appeared onscreen not long after Rose Livingston and Sara Montaigne, and we found out that Sara was Rose's estranged daughter. I wonder whether Peggy might have been part of that family group -- or else they were just juggling a few different potential mysteries so that they could develop whatever seemed to be getting the best response from the audience. They didn't do anything much with Rose and Sara really either. Maybe Rose would have become more prominent if Rachel and Mac had split up over Mitch, or if Sara had really flourished. In some ways I can picture Cheryl being affected by MJ's prostitution similarly to how Josie was distressed by finding out about Sharlene. But I can also see that Josie as a Frame being involved with Matthew would have different stakes for Rachel and Sharlene than Cheryl being involved with Scott. I do think the solution for Cheryl would have had to be a badder boy than Scott -- either a real bad boy who would do her wrong, or the kind of bad boy (not Chad!!!) who is essentially misunderstood and other people just don't understand. Cheryl would also have been better off with some friends her own age. Matthew and Josie benefited a bit from having other teenagers to interact with.
    • Sally Spencer was a decent actress, but the writing destroyed the "M.J." that Kathleen Layman had built. Layman had a quiet strength about her, and she and Osburn really felt like sisters. Spencer's character should have been either an unmentioned sister, or maybe Jake's that grew up close to Kathleen, M.J. and the rest, but was away for a few years before joining the force. Kristen Marie was o.k., but I always got a mousier vibe from her. Being pigeon-holed with Scott for most of the run hurt things for her, as well.  The Loves were also underserved between Rhonda Lewin and Philece Sampler. Philece would have been better as Nicole. Thank goodness Anne Heche  showed up for the next round of auditions. Christopher Holder was mediocre as Peter, but given a shot, I think Marcus Smythe could have stuck around for a while.  I would have had Peggy Lazarus be a Frame -- possibly an ex-wife for Vince with an agenda. Smythe and Hollen had  a fun chemistry that could have kept the two around.. Bringing recasts for  Cheryl and Ben back mixing it up with other Frames. Corys, Lawrences at the time might have kept all the families stronger.
    • shoot...he said in that Locher room with Krista. I think he met her before that---she was doing Broadway and they had mutual friends or an agent maybe?
    • Yes. And I assume he met Mary Ellen Stuart at GL.
    • That's an odd coincidence. Yeah, Roger would turn anything he could to his advantage. At the time, he's just taking the pictures to bank leverage over Reva, Billy or the Lewises.  I'm kinda squeamish about 1986 episodes myself. I'd love to hear the original version of Ross/Vanessa/Dinah, but the Cain story is bad, and I don't want Billy and Vanessa to break up.
