“MAN UP”

Three modern men try to get in touch with their inner tough guys and redefine what it means to be a “real man” in this funny and relatable comedy.

Will’s grandfather fought in WWII. Will’s father fought in Vietnam. Will plays Call of Duty on his PS3 and drinks non-dairy hazelnut creamer. So what happened to all the real men? They’re still here -- they just smell like pomegranate body wash now. Meet Will (Mather Zickel). His evolved, sensitive nature is why his awesome wife, Theresa (Teri Polo), married him. But Will and his friends find themselves wondering -- in a world of Axe ads and manscaping -- what does it really mean to be a guy anymore? Will is more interested in finding the perfect gift for his son Nathan’s (Jake Johnson) 13th birthday than in doing his job selling insurance; sensitive soul Craig (Christopher Moynihan) still pines for his college ex, Lisa; and Kenny (Dan Fogler) clamps down on his anger and asks himself, “What would Tobey Maguire do?,” when his ex, Brenda (Amanda Detmer), starts seeing a guy (Henry Simmons) who is everything he’s not and much better looking. After Craig crashes Lisa’s wedding to try to win her back, they are all faced with an opportunity to Man Up and be like their forefathers.

The show stars Christopher Moynihan as Craig, Mather Zickel (“The Cape”) as Will, Dan Fogler (“Balls of Fury”) as Kenny, Teri Polo (“Meet the Fockers”) as Theresa, Amanda Detmer (“What About Brian”) as Brenda and Henry Simmons (“Shark”) as Grant.

“Man Up” comes from writer/executive producer/actor Christopher Moynihan (“100 Questions”), executive producer Victor Fresco (“Better off Ted”), Ron West and Kelly Kulchak of Tagline Television (Psych) and director Beth McCarthy-Miller (“SNL,” “30 Rock”). ”Man Up” is produced by ABC Studios.

    • I think it was in episode 2 when Raquel was being messy with/about Peter & Tom Schwartz, warning Allie (I think it’s Allie?? lol) about James, finding out about James/LaLa, crying to LVP about being in love with James still, etc… and I was all like oh $h!t, when did she become the legit main character of this show?!?  Biggest cast member turnaround ever.  And now with Scandoval, she’s legendary lol.  But we’ll see if they try to ice her out.  She & Tom Sandoval can be on an island next year, but that can only work for so long.  But they did blow up the show, for better and perhaps worse if everyone short-sightedly alienates them.  They can’t afford to lose this momentum after the show being on the fritz for years.  Perhaps rebuilding the show around Raquel (and James) would be wise. Re.: Ariana… she can be boring, but in the beginning, I loved how her chill vibe contrasted the witches (and she SO got under their skin!) and Scheana really needed a girlfriend.  They’re an unlikely pair and their friendship has ebbed and flowed over the years, but they’ve remained loyal to each other.  Arianna’s biggest problem is that she’s always thought she’s better than everyone… and that hubris is likely making her feel even more stupid rn.  Scandoval gives her a built-in storyline, and I think she’ll take it and do much more with it than, like, Katie, or even LaLa, is now.  This will likely re-energize everyone.  I also loved that Ariana, during the early TomTom planning stages, REALLY wanted to say that LVP and Ken had no right to be on their high horse and make so many demands of the Toms when they were cashing in on their name and that they (the VPR cast) catapulted the restaurants into the tourist destinations they became.  But I don’t think you could break the fourth wall like that back then like Jax did in that one finale (his power play to LVP obviously was much ado about nothing with the Faith scandal shortly following).  It’s wild how LVP & Ken still thought (think??) the “kids” were lackeys after being the biggest thing on Bravo. And @Cheap21, I totally agree that Raquel working at SUR (real or not) really keeps the original premise alive and makes the ambiance of the restaurant make sense and feel fresh again.  I don’t know if this was a happy accident, but if producers knew ahead of the season to position as her the main character, they’re geniuses.
    • I didnt say you were attacking my Dad. I was giving my perspective as someone who had to put their Dad in a nursing home.    Also i didnt start the thread
    • John's family aside, this is a shitty thing to say about an actor who literally just had a malignant tumor removed. You wouldn't tell them to cart Dee Hall off to Shady Pines if she has a cancer scare.
    • No need to be hostile!!  @John If this hits too close to home then maybe you shouldn't have started this thread. No one was attacking your dad.
    • Dude seriously as someone who had to put their Dad in a nursing home for the last 6 months of his like, this is NOTHING to make a joke about even if you are annoyed with or do not like EB
