That was a hard article to read...my heart broke for her. I'm glad she was able to find the seclusion and hopefully happiness she deserved.

I'm glad at least one clip of her on OLTL is around. You can see her talent even here.

How long did Burns play Cathy ? I think I read somewhere she had another short term role on the show in the 80's. She was hilarious in an episode of Love American Style. She played a woman on her honeymoon and becomes addicted to gambling and spends her wedding night at the craps table as her husband whines. I think she and Richard Thomas were an item during the early 70's. She guest starred in an episode of The Walton's around that time.

The thing is, if she were coming along today, 1) Catherine Burns' career would explode like a rocket; 2) people would be giving the media way more [!@#$%^&*] for making unflattering remarks about her appearance; and 3) the attention surrounding her and her career would be even more intrusive, thanks to social media, the paparazzi and websites like TMZ.

Cathy Craig was a role that kept being recast. Whether it was due to actors leaving or TPTB not happy with some of then J don't know. Maybe someone has more info?

Looking at that clip makes me wish there had been more effort to keep the families going.

Killing off Meredith and then Victor, not committing to Tony Lord, giving Larry only one child, dropping Cathy. Maybe Vinnie and Wanda could have adopted etc

That's interesting she was still doing the soap when that movie took off. There seemed to be a lot of actors with promising careers from those days that show up a lot on old TV shows and their careers fizzled out.

Another actor that faded also with the last named " Burns" was Michael Burns. He played in tons of stuff back then. He played Moondoggie in the film 1972 TV film "Gidget Get's Married" with Macdonald Carey. Soap vets William Gray Espy, Judith McConnell,  and Helen Funai also appeared.

Interesting but not surprising that The Hollywood Reporter thought it was ok to mention that she wrote for Guiding Light years later, but not that she had a role on OLTL in the sixties, which might have spoiled the "she coulda been a contendah" narrative of her overlooked acting talent by the film industry.

    • Nordstrom's page for above AFRM Shailine dress that Chelsea wore, pink petal pattern/color https://www.nordstrom.com/s/shailene-print-long-sleeve-powermesh-midi-dress/8127521?origin=category-personalizedsort&color=683 Notice on that page there is a video, and the video shows a different color which is the color worn by Audra on Y&R in April 2025. Same exact dress, just different color pattern - organic rose. https://wornontv.net/509377/

    • I hit the Google Machine, and can't find Alex Alegria's (Tomas) age anywhere. Wow, I really disagree with this. I like that Bill plays against the typical bad guy. I think Maurice Johnson has been just fine -- except for that swaying. I cannot believe someone -- anyone -- on that set didn't give him a note. He should have been called out on that in week one. The swaying and swiveling never stops unless he sits down. I understand the need for product placement and the reason for it. However, it does feel wrong during emotional scenes. Yes, we're talking about the products, but it takes us out of those emotional moments, and GATES shouldn't be happy about that. They need to do better. Maxim said it better than I did. I agree. The writers have absolutely failed Ashley and Derek. I've abused both of them here, but I do place more of the blame on the writing. Compare what A & D have been given with the dialogue Ambyr Michelle is getting as Eva. We're not even in the same universe. Ambyr is getting writing that plays to her (many) strengths. She takes good dialogue and knocks it out of the park. Ashley and Derek are given garbage to play and garbage to say.
    • The Eva / Tomas scenes at the end -- to see a good actress having to play a scene with someone giving her less than nothing -- that was painful.
    • I thought the story had it’s moments, I much preferred the story once Greg was meddling, trying to keep her away from Tom Ryan. I loved them together!   And there was a story they could have developed from this. Laura stopped having a lot of scenes with the ensemble. She's the only one missing during the big finales of seasons 5&6, and I would have been cool to play on that! For one, Laura being a more cutthroat business executive just made sense to me. Also, the point I was trying to make regarding Mary Robeson was that I wish they had focused on a story from her family /background beforehand. You could play the Vin artist from many angles.
    • Nielsen Ratings for this same week 39 years ago May 5-11 1986. North & South Book II mini-series pre-empted a number of ABC shows. What the heck was NBC’s Fast Copy about?

    • I think the arrival of the Spauldings (Alan/Elizabeth/Phillip) caused the erosion of Sara's character on the show since Elizabeth took over Sara's place in the whole Justin/Jackie story.  Sara's brief marriage to another deceptive man sounded like it paled in comparison to the previous deceptive man story that she had played the decade beforehand.. and it was probably done because of the whole Alan/Jackie/Mike/Elizabeth cluster that took off story wise.   I know the show had introduced Brandy, the woman Justin cheated on Jackie with... but I don't believe she lasted more than a year.. and didn't make much of an impression. While the Dobson's were good at writing/juggling multiple characters/stories.. they weren't perfect though they did manage to make use of characters not in the front burner like Sara, Ann, etc. I do know that Sara/Adam looked to be starting up at the end of the Dobson era with a jealous/regretful Barbara looking on.. which played out during the Roger/Holly rape story and Hollys prison story.   I don't know if Marland was as inspired by that story when he took over
