Wow, Kasi Lemmons lost the part of Angie to Debbi.

I'm skimming but there are some cringeworthy errors here - the host says she went back to AMC in '93 and pretty much stayed to the end. OTOH, Debbi herself says she left the first time to follow Charles S. Dutton to L.A. and do "Port Charles", which, no.

Yeah, there was some mix up by both Debbi and Gerrad.  I think Gerrad meant to ask about her first time leaving AMC for Generations.  And then her second time as Angie was actually on Loving/The City.  After that, she went over to Port Charles.

Yea I noticed that too! It’s a shame because I feel she has a lot to say. I was a bit confused when she said she left and got offered a part on Port Charles. And if she mentions that movie theater moment one more time lol.

Finally watched--too short but mostly sweet.  You were skimming, so it's forgiven, but I need to point out it wasn't Dutton she mentioned.  She was confused by the question but was obviously talking about when The City ended (maybe there was some talk about her character going to AMC which I hoped for?)  She said the producer of The City was producing Port Charles and had asked her to join her, and her husband at the time was going out West anyway to work on a tv series so it made sense to go.  Jean D Burke was the EP of The City and immediately went to AMC, of course, and JHC was a producer and then an EP at Port Charles and later replaced Burke at AMC--and I can't seem to find any cross over production crew between The City and PC, but...  That's my guess?  SHe did get married in 1997 to Donn Thompson and it seems like he did work behind the scenes in TV from what I can find.  Although Roc did start on TV  just over a year after Debbi left AMC the first time so I could be completely wrong.

It is too bad it wasn't a bit better researched--Debbi herself seemed slightly confused (fair enough) about what show she was Angie when...  But I would have loved to have heard some mention/question about the character going to Loving/The City and how she was approached to do that (I still find it crazy that they didn't have Angie return to AMC for a few episodes first).  We have already heard about her issues with AMC and the promise of Generations for why she made the hop that time.

    • Thanks!   Was anyone watching during this time? Wondering how Peggy’s rape played out onscreen. It just seems cruel to subject the Brooks family to this trauma a 2nd time.   Feels like the writers have already given up on the character of Jennifer, even though she sticks around another year-plus. She should be a passionate and fierce protective mother, but instead she seems just reactionary (and not even mentioned in this recap) This was also the case in ‘73 when Chris was raped. The writers are definitely more invested Stuart as the Brooks parent.
    • BTG got another SNL reference at 00:50  CONTEXT (so it isn't misconstrued) in this joke swap segment, Michael Che frequently makes his white cohost Colin Jost read racist jokes written by Che.

    • It's obvious that Israel's presence is a major divisive issue, and this is something that the EBU needs to deal with. According to the now published results Israel got 13 out of a possible 19 max points in the semi-final, and while their song isn't bad there's no way they would get those numbers without some kind of manipulation/political voting. They are clearly using this contest as a way of improving their somewhat tarnished reputation. I know that some people are comparing this to the massive sympathy votes that Ukraine gets and which propelled them to victory in 2022, but I feel that that was a more genuine show of support than this concerted effort from Israel to influence the televoting. I even had an ad on Youtube from Israel in Swedish(!) asking for votes! It might not be against any rules, but it feels a bit icky nonetheless.
    • Yeah, as you wrote, an Israeli win would have been a political disaster. Congratulations to Austria. 0 points from the televoting to Switzerland was a disgrace. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show ... but I'm also glad that Eurovision season is over

    • Hahaha Sorry if I was too negative, I just started typing and typing once I got going hahaha
    • @dc11786 Thanks for taking time to answer my various questions, along with giving your thoughts on the different writing teams. I wonder why they didn't just have Ryder and TR leave together if Jane was going anyway. The discussions over the last few pages have made me more interested in watching these episodes than I have been over the years - without the extra details and analyses provided, these years can be difficult to decipher (not helped by how often Jo seems like a side character).
    • I didn't think this was very good (I've never yet seen a good episode of this revival), but you do get a lot of Michael Stroka. And if you are a Donna Reed Show fan, you also get Paul Petersen.
