Considering we are talking about Megan McTavish, I shudder to think what those plans might have been.

they were boring as hell. I dont know why she was brought back in the 90s, bc the decade wasnt good to her. I hadnt seen her original 80s run but I thought she was such a boring and useless character

From what I've seen, she was very entertaining in the '80s.

Her '90s stint was mismanaged and was written badly. It's too bad.

Nice promo. Probably better than the story if it's the Silver stuff.

Yup, that was the start of the Silver storyline.

To this day, I think AMC's writers paired up Charlie with Cecily because they were ready to dump the both of them and didn't know what else to do with them. Honestly.

I think McTavish had plans for Cecily (she was supposed to be a pot-stirrer and live with Phoebe) and when she went, they went with her.

Cecily was a great, fun character in the 1980s. Imo, her 1990s return was another example of a strong female neutered by McTavish.

That is what happened to Devin and Chuck around 1984. They were going to be paired and written out, but the producers decided to keep Chuck and to reunite him with Donna.

McTavish only had a few months, if that, to write for her. I'd put any blame or credit for her on Broderick/Behr.

Didn't Broderick create the character? and Behr came in the late 80's when she was there. Kind of ironic, if true.

I forget, what brought Cecily back to town in the first place? The Martin housewarming? I remember first seeing her then.

She was getting a divorce from Nico, and was going to stay with Aunt Phoebe, but Pheebs wouldn't let Cecily stay if she wasn't willing to ask Nico for alimony.

Go Phoebe! She wouldn't let any woman under her roof not have a backbone. I had forgotten about that.

It didnt help that she came back with an ugly haircut that rivaled Dixie's look. The character simply didnt seem to fit in anymore

Maybe we should just blame '90s Cecily on network interference. smile.png

Well, McTavish brought her back as a watered-down version. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt this once that network interference was involved, but the Cecily from the 1980s had much more of a backbone and would've definitely gotten alimony from Nico. It's too bad that her return was so mishandled imo because Rosa Nevin was great at playing a vixen.

So, network interference... it was ABC that brought Rosa Nevin back? Why were they so hot to get her back? Were Nico and Cecily even that much of a draw? Wasn't AMC kind of on a downward trend in the ratings while they were on lol?

Nico & Cecily were a popular couple. Definitely not as huge as a Angie & Jesse or Jenny & Greg, but still popular.

BTW, why did they divorce? I can't remember.
