 I guess Angie promising to make shrimp gumbo for Frankie last year was her flaunting her blackness too.

"Blackness" makes me laugh because Ebony magazine always used that word when describing Carla from OLTL in the 70s. "She passed for White then embraced her Blackness." It makes it sound like a disease.

 I had forgotten the gumbo thing! I think it was your Loozianna ass who came for me on that one.

AMC used to be so full of homosexual/incest overtones and I don't mean that in a negative way. It was very amusing...

Those are great. Interesting that a photo of Erica/Travis was used for that book at AMC's 25th, since Travis was a distant memory for Erica by then.

In the 4 1980 eps kindly sent to me by a member of here there's one with a lot of Estelle and Benny in the hospital. I am trying to figure out how to convert DVD vob files into uploadable files--pm me with any advice.

I posted this not long back in the video folder, but there's a great set of a full week of 1987 eps (Lorraine Broderick was HW), which I've watched twice. A weird mix of stories--Nina searching for Cliff in the jungle to Charlie flirting on the ice, and Nico and Julie on the run, Erica and Travis, Angie and Jesse fighting over an as yet undiagnosed Cindi re AIDS, etc but it's pretty great to watch now.

Starts Dec 17 (ends Dec 23) 1987. Here's the first part, links can be found from it:

ANd this long scene from the Dec 22 episode in that suite is prob my fave Ruth and Joe moment ever.

Thanks for posting these, Eric! Imo, 1987 and 1982 were the two best years in AMC history so I'm thrilled to see these and in such good quality, too.

Okay, I'm trying to compile a list of all of the half-hour episodes that survived the barbaric practice of destruction. So far, I have:

1. February 1970 (#23) - Amy has a nightmare.

2. March 1970 (#41) - Ruth and Joe discuss Phil and Tara.

3. March 1970 - Erica worries about her father's absence.

4. April 1970 - Amy reveals Phil's true parentage to Nick.

5. 1971 - Erica announces plans to marry Jeff.

6. Five episodes from March and April 1971

7. Five episodes from March and April 1973

8. A partial episode from 1974

Also, in the 20th anniversary special, there are some B/W kinescope clips that weren't taken from any of the above (except maybe the March and April 1971 episodes):

1. Phil and Tara kiss.

2. Amy and Ruth argue about Ruth's marriage to Ted.

3. Erica explains why she's more mature than Tara.

4. Phil asks Nick about his high school and Navy days.

5. Chuck and Tara's wedding (including Tara/Kate, Phil/Ruth, and Nick stopping the wedding).

I wonder if Chuck and Tara were married in one of those early '71 episodes...

I remember the explosion being a lot bigger back then. I guess it was because I was so young. Special effects have come a long way.
