I think Oprah is used to fans who LOVE her and take her every word as the truth. Seeing people react in the opposite way will be a complete shock to her.

Me too. That sounds really good. I actually just had some Hershey's kisses because a kid at work gave me some in an Easter basket today. Yum.

While I agree that people are crazy for going after her in this "Save Our Soaps" campaign or whatever you want to label it, I kind of get a little enjoyment of seeing Oprah squirm in this scenario. People talk about Frons and dangling carrots in front of naive fans....

I love how Oprah shot it on the camera phone.... kind of felt like she was in Peapack. Aww the memories.....

Yeah, I don't see why the people campaigning are crazy. Oprah was targeted because she cultivated this image for 20 years of being champion of all that is good and true, the benefactor of all womanhood who only talks about emotional nourishment, artistic integrity, and quality in all aspects of life. She grew a following of people who would buy a book if she told them to, see a movie, and watch one of her Doctor spin offs just on her say so. So of course they would turn to her for help in the same way they turn to her for guidance in everything. Her response is "no money, honey". That's fair, but it wasn't unfair for them to see her as the person she wanted to be seen as.

I found Oprah's statement very refreshing and I love that she cut to the chase. ("If there was a penny to be made...") I know people like to think that she's Jesus but it isn't her job to save souls AND soap operas too. Her network has its OWN struggles (<--you see how I...) and the women who aren't home watching soaps are the women who aren't home watching her brand of gynocentric programming either.

She should air daytime reruns of this however:
