GH: March Discussion Thread

SOS=Summer of Sin (AKA 2006 summer storylines on GH. All the sexual affairs. That's when Jake was conceived)

That was really a great year for GH. I loved drug dealing Maxie and addict Lucky. They should have kept Sam as a villain out for revenge. GH wimped out.

BH was good, I think this type of material is stuff were she shines.

I agree. Too bad her grief is bound to be rushed, just like the rest of this story. She'll probably be at ShadyBrooke next week, and healed a month from now. It's unfortunate because I think BH could play the grieving mother if given a real chance. I don't really blame GH for not going there, I guess. It's hard to watch someone truly grieve. I always thought the actress who played Cassie on GL (after LW) did a great job of mourning her daughters death. The show gave her a lot of time to do it too. She walked around for months half dead with her guts hanging out, but soap audiences lost their patence for that sort of soap a good 20 years ago or maybe TPTB lost their patience. Who knows.

I have to say the supporting cast all sucked. At the hospital you had Lulu, Dante, Sam and all three reacted to the news it was nothing out of the ordinary. Nik too I guess.

*thumbs up*

I felt a little emotion out of Lulu. But, that was it. Sam/Dante/and Nik had no emotion whatsoever. Just these blank stares on their faces. I understand Dante's lack of pain. Since, he's never really had too many scenes or connections to Liz. But, Sam on the other hand should have been at least have been crying. (since she's Jason's girlfriend and her and Liz have been friendly here lately. Plus, she should have felt empathy since she lost Lila.) and Nik is the kid's "uncle" so there should have been something felt by him as well.

Yes, his BoP (Box of Pain) is literally a box that he keeps all his pictures and crap in. He takes them out to mope at every now and then

He really has a box of that stuff? LOL

Well that's two different departments. If they don't write scenes with Lucky and Jake there is very little JJ can do about showing emotions. My problem with him is he was teary eyed when he discovered Siobhan was a double agent. It was as if he knew her 20 years and felt betrayed. It was ridiculous I thought. Today it was appropriate it is just his tears have been diluted by the daily dose of them. Still, the scene at the door was the best one of the whole show and I think shows why JJ is better than these other people. He was physically into the moment. Steve Burton has had that same expression he goes to for these type of things and never changes. BH was good, I think this type of material is stuff were she shines.

Here his nephew or whatever Jake is has just died and he is being magnanimous in allowing Cameron to come home with him and Aiden? Should Cameron being allowed to come home with Lucky's brother and Aiden's father even need to be mentioned?

JMB is not believable with anyone in her family and I don't even know why they include her. The only time she shows emotion towards them is when she gets to yell at someone. The only "family" I find her believable with is Tracy.

I guess with the quick shooting schedule and all the worries over pay cuts, I can see why the actors aren't interested, but I wish it didn't show up onscreen. JFP used to be able to step on that type of thing. It's kind of pathetic when you have moments like Siobhan learning that her great true love's son has been hit by a car and she looks like someone told her Ryan's Hope has been preempted.

I do think the writing let Lucky down in regards to his kids - although I'm sure Guza would say this was doing Lucky a favor, since those weren't his biological kids - but JJ presumably chose to do all the weepy stuff non-stop.

I think the only time Guza cares about Lucky with the kids is through Jason. It's telling that the very first thing Lucky did was call Jason. As Luke mentioned a year or two ago, those are not Lucky's children.

Yep. I'm sure we'll see BoP soon.

I hope we get a montage of Jason walking for 5 minutes again.

LMAO, I must have missed that. When was this?

I take issue with that one. Perhaps we've been bombarded with the false grief of the world over Princess Di or teenagers in hysterics when someone who's name they might recognize is killed. Adults don't react like that - not those with a stiff upper lip and more than a little reserve in their behaviour.

The response of the extended Spencer family was perfect IMO. They didn't need to wail - they're not a wailing family. Jake's parents did, which was appropriate. But all the rest became rather stoic and got about the business of this death. News had to be spread, so Lulu was the designate. The other boys had to be tended to, so Nicholas was the designate. Jake's body had to be tended to, and Patrick took the lead on that. Lucky needed some privacy to deal with his pain, and Siobhan was the person to walk with him through that. All of them responded in character with respect for Lucky's true needs. No one made this about them - which I often see in these "shared anguish" sequences. And the grieving has just begun. Who's to say which one will break down with the privacy of their own partners. This is early days.

It was during the carnival..I think you can find a hilarious video of it on youtbe.

I was invested as much as I could be... until that woman just happened to come upon the waiting room while Patrick was discussing organ donation with Liz and Lucky. The manufactured, "gee, whatta co-inky dink" plot point screamed at me, and took me out of any subsequent suspension of disbelief. But, I wasn't surprised... The writers shoehorn that character into every other storyline, so why should this be any different?

UGH! Carly couldn't wait to go and seek out Jason and ask him about that kidney transplant the minute she found out it was possible. To me today she came across as incredibly selfish & uncaring about anyone but herself and Josslyn...which isn't half bad, but I didn't buy her 1 minute tops remorse over Jake's death one bit. Carly left a very bad taste in my mouth today.

I think the better twist would be if they proceed to agree to use Jake's organs but after testing they find that he isnt a match and then Jax and Carly have this cancer storyline to play out for the next few months, instead of this easy quick fix.

I don't think they needed to throw themselves on the floor wailing, but maybe just a slight opening of the mouth in shock, some sense of bewilderment that a major event just happened in the space of 1 second and Jason giving the bad news. Something that indicated that they were taking in some heavy information.

I think that was just badly edited. The knew promo has a scene of that same moment from in the room with Lucky and Liz and it looks very real, very natural. That was just a bad choice by the editors I think, cause it looked really awkward from the angle we got.
