GH: Actress OUT??

And yet I keep reading hear how her character was trashed on this board.

The point is if the writers aren't interested in the character anymore they won't write for you that simple. Doesn't make it right or wrong, it's just the nature of the beast.

I was pissed off to no end when they killed off my fave(who's killing was celebrated on this board) but in retrospect I knew they were done with the character and am happy they wrote her off before the character became completely irrelevant.

While I am not a Becky or Liz fan, she's popular and I would expect a show like B&B or Y&R or even Days might entertain hiring her. Will they use her correctly who knows but it's not like GH did the last few years either.

Yes it was and not popular here and apparently still isn't but I won't belabor that point. I knew they were done with her after the pairing with Sonny flopped and was pulled(like MB hasnt had a zillion flops). I'm just sorry she ever came back because the character and story was a complete disaster. And you better hope they don't offer than to Becky and she doesn't entertain it.

Becky will be fine. She's got a lot of fans and is popular and I would imagine won't trash the show when she leaves. She likely will be appreciative of all the support and work she's gotten. She will handle it as a professional and this will only enhance her chances of landing something new.

I'm shocked...

Liz was never my favorite character, but I thought Lucky & Liz were the closest thing to Luke & Laura they were ever going to get, they had such history and the fact that Jonathan Jackson came back makes this even sadder. Sure she is a shell of herself as someone said, but so is everyone, and at least the woman ACTS!

The fact that we still have Cackle, Horse,Boobs, and Street Corner (figure those out for yourselves)...just makes it even worse.

She's mellowed out but that would be a sign of character progression and maturation, which all characters should have especially after being on a show for nearly 30 years as she has. I wouldnt call her a shell of herself. It wouldnt make much sense for her to still be the type of person that would hold her father's heart medication from him. No, she is beyond that. Deep down, her personality is still similar and she is fairly consistent from story to story. She isnt constantly switched up to go with whats currently being dished out.

Aside from the first year or so after the rape story, I have never liked Liz. For a while I actually hated her.

I still don't really understand this decision.

Liz gets people talking. She's a very polarizing character. She gets attention. And that's something which GH is lacking right now. Many faces, including hugely hyped returns like Brenda's, have just resulted in apathy.

Is this because the golden boy's return really hasn't been all that fantastic, and has only put a big red flag on just how useless Lucky is as a character, and they don't want Liz around because she's a reminder of when JJ did more than just cry/talk about how great Jason is/get an earful from the Irish cipher? Or because they continue to have no idea what to do with Nik, and are now reduced to having a date rapist bimbo like Brook Lyn as moral arbiter?

The show isn't exactly full of great female characters at the moment, and most of them seem to be wandering around aimlessly. Even poor Lisa Lo, who is a very good actress, only got material when it was time for a daylong coma from a bus crash. Brianna Brown is completely in over her head with whatever they have made Lisa. They gave up on writing for Robin. Lulu is irrelevant. Maxie is an earache. Brenda is sleep-inducing. Alexis is just there. Kristina has no story. Sam is just Jason's appendage.

So you're left with Carly, who is just a clomping plot device, Jason Jr. and the 40 year old stripper, and Tracy, who I love but who never has any storyline.

Bring Becky Herbst to AMC as a long lost Smythe named Redlee!! ....;-) I could see both Becky's passing off as sisters!! I would love it if Mary Smythe came back and with a huge secret like that ;-D. Or they don't have to be sisters, they could be cousins or something. Wishful thinking/casting ;P!!

    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
    • Angry Dante was hot; sorry, but I'm not going to pretend it wasn't awesome seeing Dominic Zamprogna act his ass off in a way that was not crying.
    • Thanks, interesting and so believable (no Lonatrat or Clones...)Instead of the Lewis family he should have made the Oil family Granger...even if the audience didn't remember that one off character it would have been interesting to tie it into the fictional GL world.
    • Dante needs stick removed from his butt
    • When you bring up what I like to call "Shapiro's Folly" you think Dano's acting choices mattered? I ask because I don't think so. As far as I could tell almost universally the ABC fans hated the very idea of her being on all 4 shows! And, BTW, the headwriters also hated it, at least according to comments made by Passanante. But, it is not hard to imagine that they'd feel that way. And, I agreed. If she wanted success she should have planted "Rae" on one & given up her idea of branding, or whatever it was that she was after.
    • Okay, well her reasons were that she had a mandate to reduce the size of the cast & she had another mandate to make the cast overall younger, so her reason for picking Donna to off was because she was too old.  So, is that what you understand? Or are you thinking of something else? Which if so, I would be delighted to hear about it!  She had arbitrarily picked 50 as the age people needed to be younger than.  And, that is why she got rid of both Bridget & Spencer Harrison.  And, getting rid of Bridget was another of her horrible ideas.  Why do you refer to her as the Face of the Show? Don't feel bad. I am a major Cass fan & I don't remember him with Donna either, LOL! Can we say forgettable? And, yes, Lila was the most last minute of last minutes!!!!
    • This is AWESOME, thank you for taking the time to post this! My first thought: My memory is a lot better than I thought it was, LOL! The first episode I clearly remember watching had a scene of Ed confronting Holly about Christina's paternity. He lamented how wonderful things had been over Christmas, so looks like I started watching the show early 1976. The only thing puzzling me is where is Evie? I thought she was around BEFORE Rita got involved with Tim, but maybe that's one gap in my memory. It makes Rita look slightly better--in that case, she didn't seduce Tim knowing her sister had a crush on him.
    • Oh, well.  At least he can cry into his hoodie.
