I think the Ralph story was a one of those Kay redemption stories that came up every so often where she would vow to make better choices.

I guess Ralph appeared at the mansion for work and was friendly towards Kay and Liz encouraged it.ย

There would have been a bit of comedy with haughty Kay attempting to relate to down to Earth Ralph.

How it was resolved I don't know. Maybe as simple as Kay announcing she wasn't interested?

I forgot that Kay and Liz were friendly before Jill stole Kay's husband.ย

Did Liz and Kay ever interact until Jill got pregnant/Phillip's death? I don't think so and at that point they would not have been friendly. Liz very much knew her place in dealing with the likes of Kay Chancellor.

It is funny to think of how the character of Philip II, and the recasting of Jill, really changed the trajectory of Kay.ย  One assumes she would've mellowed with time, naturally.ย  But, as someone who started Y&R @ 1986 (when Brad married Traci), I rarely associate Kay with her more venomous past.

Yes, and by the time the 2000's rolled around Katherine was a saint and a dynamic business women.

Hard to connect with the drunken lush isolated in her mansion of the 70's.

In all fairness, during the 90s (post Rex's death) Kay was often rarely onscreen except for visiting Nikki on the Newman ranch and it would have sense that she was BUSY at Chancellor Industries the rest of the time... ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

Except she never worked there at all and barely even knew where the Chancellor Industries plant was locatedย ๐Ÿ˜‚

In 1980, Kay attempted to install Derek Thurston (her third husband) in a position at Chancellor Industries.ย  The show introduced a character named George Packard who'd supposedly been running Chancellor since Phillip's demise in 1975.ย  (George Packard's storyline in 1980 was attempting to keep Derek Thurston from bankrupting the company.)ย ย

We didn't hear much of anything about Chancellor Industries for the next twenty-five years.ย  Then, at that point, we met Eliot Hampton (?) who'd been running the company for decades and had been embezzling from it.ย  Jill took it upon her herself to oust Eliot Hampton (?) and take control of the company.ย  That's when Kay became actively involved in the management of the company.ย

From 1974 till 2004 Kay Chancellor was strictly a hands-off owner.ย  It was downright absurd that the last ten years of life, she was written as this formidable businesswoman who'd always been involved in Chancellor Industries.ย ย

There's a 1980 scene ofย Victor and Katherine in the Chancellor Estate living room where they went over a contract that would put Victor in charge of Chancellor Industries, but it wasย rewritten that Katherine brought Victor to Genoa City so he could run Chancellor Industries.

Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.ย  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.ย

SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.ย  ย ย

And sadly I think thatโ€™s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol

Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?

I haven't seen the original scene anywhere, only the flashback.

Would anyone have any of these Y&R episodes they could add to the vault? It would be very much appreciated.

Thought Iโ€™d share this video featuring Cathy Carricaburu, now Foxhoven, who played Nancy Becker from 1976-1978.

IMG_9426.jpeg

She talks a little about her acting career starting around the 6 minute mark and briefly mentions Y&R. It would be interesting to see some of her work on Y&R since it seems to be her most notable role.

Thank you for sharing. I guess Nancy was catatonic most of her time on the show, so I guess the gasps make sense, lol. I had heard Cathy and Dick DeCoit were supposed to be on the show longer, but Trish Stewart leaving changed all that.

Does anyone know the air date when Victoria & Cole first meet?

Was there a scene when Victoria was sitting on Cole's lap and kissed him? If so, does anyone know the air date?
