I think he would've fit in well, both with the Y&R of the '70's, and with the '80's, too.And for sure, if James Houghton had stuck around, he might've looked fantastic next to MTS, although I think a big problem with him, both on Y&R and away from it, was an inability to connect with most of his female co-stars.Executive Predator uh I mean Executive Producer Conboy would have staged scenes of Greg always at the pool or running around in short shorts if he had hired Spitz.....LOLHoughton really was kind of aloof with co-stars. He could also come across as bitchy/sarcastic.4 hours ago, Broderick said:I don't think anyone on Planet Earth would've made Greg Foster stand out. The character was just a dullard from Day One.In hindsight, Bill Bell could've just had two kids in the Foster house (Snapper & Jill) and saved his money by omitting Greg entirely. Greg's "legacy" on the show was basically just marrying Nikki (who doesn't even seem to remember him.)They should have written Greg kind of a 70's bad boy like they eventually did with Terry Lester's Jack in the 80's. LOL at Nikki not remembering Greg. Nikki doesn't think it is important to dwell on silly things like old forgotten husbands.

Lol
March 4Mar 4 Member Back in the late 90's James Houghton posted on the old soaps news groups board frequently. He was writing Y&R at the time. He responded to comments and questions usually with a quip. Someone brought up Greg's storyline with Gwen Sherman and he said something like "1970's Icky/Sappy Morality". He was also surprised when it was brought up that the Greg character had married Nikki after he had left the role. I also remember him referring to William Gray Espy as a strange fish.3 hours ago, YRfan23 said:Yeah I concur that Greg’s best story out of the characters original 9 year run was the Walter Addison stuff, which was really Nikki’s story obviously. LolIt would be interesting to see Greg pop back into Nikki's life but with Houghton and Hauser both deceased they would have to recast. TPTB in 2026 would probably get someone like Jeffrey Tambor to play him......LOL

I never understood why they never brought on Brooks Prentiss and have him hook up then marry Victoria. Since Lorie was his second mother, she and Nikki would be sort of in-laws and the fur would fly. Leslie would be caught in the middle as peace maker. I would also have Brooks Prentiss renovate and live in the old Brooks home.Chuck Foster and Jennifer Elizabeth Foster should also be brought on canvas. Jennifer could be a bitch on wheels and Chuck would be a womanizer like his father (like the Espy version).

His Greg would loaf around the house all day raiding the fridge and watching TV. They should also bring back Casey Reed. I picture Lindsay Wagner or Cheryl Ladd.
March 6Mar 6 Member 8 hours ago, Khan said:Perry King, lol. That sounds like someone MAB/Rauch/Sheffer/Hamner would have cast during their reign of terror lol.

I, myself, would bring him on as Traci's new love interest, but that would be too, you know, logical, lol?
March 9Mar 9 Member I ran across this recent interview with Tom Hallick (Brad Elliot). He discusses his TV work during the 70's and 80's. He let's his feeling be know about Joan Collins and her treatment f other actors on set of Dynasty. He briefly mention Y&R at the beginning before discussing it in depth starting at the 52:40 mark. He spills some tea and tells about why Janice Lynde was fired.

March 10Mar 10 Member It's so weird to see Tom Hallick look so...suburban. Most of the time, when I see him in various reruns, he's always your typical dashing young or older man. Here, in this interview, he looks like your grandpa who's waiting for your grandma to finish up her shopping so they can grab a quick bite to eat at the mall food court and then head back home for a long snooze. He was born in 1941 so he will be 85 years old this year. He was 31 when he started on Y&R in March 1973. It's a shame he never had a long term soap role after Brad Elliot. I'm surprised Bell didn't create role for him on B&B. He could have played Eric's brother. Hallick also could have been a re-cast Mike Bauer on GL or Rick Webber before Chris Robinson was hired.1 hour ago, BoldRestless said:That's depressing. She was so brilliant in the role.It sounds like Y&R just kept piling work on her with all the dialogue she had to learn and the added music performances. It amped up when John McCook was hired in 1975 and the show became full blown afternoon musical. She and McCook also did musical specials, performances etc... together outside Y&R.
March 10Mar 10 Member Hallick did a few pilots post Y&R but then came back to Days in what looked like was going to be a major role. But I think they got Joseph Mascolo back so Tom got the axe..He would have nade a good Eric Forrester or Bill Spencer.
