This solidifies my belief that Easton is on his way out.

I hope you're right. Blair is poison to male characters just like Cristian is instadeath to female characters.

WTF cares?! I have more faith in these actors to come up with decent story than these recycled hacks.

Wow, another man after Brenda. Because there just weren't enough yet. No thanks, I'm good with this. KDP's carried almost the entire current contract cast at one point or another in the last 10 years (excepting Strasser and Slezak). She deserves a Ted King from time to time.

I sort of feel like they are what the show makes them -- I really liked John/Blair and the show threw that away for John/Marty. I liked Natalie/Cris, but even if Fumero hadn't left that probably would have ended. I also enjoyed Layla/Cris, but the show didn't want to give Tika story.

Good point. Nevertheless, I don't think it's the actor's job to help create his/her character. Certainly, once the actor begins playing the material, and the writers see on-air how they are "responding" to it, they (the writers) can adjust their vision better to suit his or her strengths. However, a character's initial conception should be solely the domain of the HW(s). This (the EW article) is just making me see "storyline control" and all other red flags in regards to TK's deal with the show and ABCD.

(Plus, there's the fact that I detect the slightest whiff of shoehorning an(other) actor into a new show strictly b/c of his popularity on another, and not hiring him/her because the new show has created this character already, and they believe he is the best one to fill that hole on the canvas.)

For me, the "downside" is that Frons has once again foisted one of the GH/PC darlings upon OLTL b/c he simply has no faith in the vets' ability to draw audiences again. Believe me, every criticism we make against Michael Easton/John McBain right now? We'll be doing the same about Ted King and "Luis" very, very soon.
