Interesting New York Times Article about out of work NYC soap actors

Eileen :( I worry about her so much, even when I shouldn't. I'm glad she is still going to keep on going. I didn't know she had been in the hospital around the time of taping the last episodes.

I'm not sure why they include Jake Silbermann so heavily in the article. Wasn't he recurring for his entire ATWT stint? He was on very little in the show's last year. While I'm sure that was still good employment, it's not the same as some of the others.

And they wonder why it was canceled...

I thought I'd read she had moved somewhere else but I'm not sure.

Goutman has a point but I wonder why he would say that in the article and basically take a crap on what Silbermann has planned. There's a lot worse ways to burn through money than doing a short film. He doesn't really suggest any great alternatives either.

The NY Times gave Michael Park's performance in his play a good review last week so that is something. Eventually, most of these actors are going to have to find other sources of income.

I don't get the emphasis on Silbermann either.

Good question. I wonder if she was ever able to sell that NY apartment.

Probably so all the Nukers will hit the link to the article.

Ditto. God, how I wish she'd gotten that role on Joey. If she's taking a pay cut to go to OLTL, you gotta wonder why she'd bother---unemployment has to pay more than that.

Ms. Colombino ...you are no Julianne Moore. She can act circles around your sorry ass!!

The show is gone and yet they still interview the crappy actors who ruined this show like Colombino and Silbermann. I'd be more interested in what ESS has planned.

I know CZP said she would not do another soap. She said ATWT was her soap/show. She is loyal to it even though it's no longer on the air.

I hope CZ changes her mind if someone calls. LOL...I'd love to see her pop up on Y&R. Can you imagine what a hoot seeing her trying to dupe Victor would be?

For Columbino to even put her name in the same sentence with JM is ridiculous.

I don't see how TC is trying to compare herself to JM, but whatevs, maybe it's just me.

I love Eileen, and I hope she's doing well. I can throw in the cliche about "finding acting jobs once you reach a certain age..." but I'm sure she's no dummy. I'd love it if she took her show on the road, hitting up different spots across the country or maybe working on a cruise ship or something. Sure, it sounds like slumming to most, but EF loves her cabaret-ing, and I imagine she can splice in ATWT reminiscences.

Silbermann just needs to realize that his most viable option is gay porn.

I remember reading the breakdown for JS's film. I didn't watch ATWT but I knew that name was familiar, Google'd, and sure enough. I think some things are best left unsaid and CG should have just kept his mouth shut. He could have at least phrased that better. However, if JS said some rude out of line crap to him someday that we don't know about, well then carry on Chris, carry on.

Silbermann might have been the one that gave them the idea for the article. Perhaps the writer attended that film festival.

I thought it was a good article, because NY has been gutted the last couple of years. Hundreds of jobs lost and the Mayor did nothing to try and entice any of these shows to stay. Maybe the city could have made it cheaper for ATWT so they didn't need to be canceled.

    • This will drag into the primaries. His NY trial isn't until March of next year. I suspect the same will be true for his federal indictments and whatever Georgia hits him with.
    • I'm kind of sorry that it happened now for Trump. I hoped it would drag on well into the primaries so that he'd tear all of them apart.  Now, there's too much recovery time for them.  And I still hold to what I've always said - if we ever have a female as President, it will be Republican.   A huge % of women do not really like strong women.  They like stupid subservient ones.  Like Palin.  Like Haley.
    • agreed that the writing for craig was atrocious in the final years. funny thing, though,  about hunt block is that i really like him as ben warren on gl, when he did play the emotional layers. so i wonder if something else was going on. maybe what he was playing was closer to the vision chris goutman had for the character. after scott bryce was fired in 2008, he gave an interview to michael logan and described his relationship with goutman as “odd, and disconnected,” then talked about how dark the show had become and suggested that maybe he “didn’t fit into that vision.”
    • Nothing in our elections will ever be a breeze. The truth is they never have been. It's just that too many people took progress for granted and threw it away because Bernie told them that their student loans were more important than our civil rights and bodily autonomy. This was a damn fine week. Chris Licht fired, Trump indicted, Pat Robertson and James Watt both dead. (I don't know how many people here remember James Watt but he was a monster.) and SCOTUS actually protected voting rights for once. The election is 18 months away. It's counterproductive to worry about it now. People love to point out Biden's age but then turn around and act like Hamhock is some kind of supervillain. Trump is dying right in front of us but Joe Biden tripped on a sandbag. This is a marathon not a sprint. Let people celebrate the good.
