Soap Opera Digest can report that Natalia Livingston, best known to daytime audiences as GH's Emily (2003-08) and Rebecca (2009) has been hired to play Taylor Raines, sister of Arianne Zucker’s Nicole. The role was last portrayed by Katherine Ellis from 1998-99.

I've never been a fan of NL's per se, but I have to defend her a little - she's held her own with some of the heaviest hitters in Daytime. When Stuart Damon is the weakest link in the Quartermaine household, that's saying something about the actors who play that family, and NL's Emily kept pace. It was her return as Rebecca that was the disaster.

I think I can actually see this.

Ha! I was thinking Nataia Livingston before I even opened this up. Taylor was a horrible character played by an actress with no screen presence. She reminds me of Marissa from AMC. I think Natalia will at least have more of an impact than she did. So Im guessing this is teh beautiful caucasion age 25-35, they were looking for

Wow Taylor after all these years!! Congrats Natalia! I was praying it was my Sarah but I will Take Taylor Walker.

Question: where does Raines come from? I thought they were Walker-Mendezes?

She hasnt been seen in 11 years. Its very likely that she's been married

Their initial backstory, IIRC, was that Taylor and Nicole had different fathers. She was introduced on DAYS as Taylor Raines, but I think towards the end of her run, she went by Taylor Walker. I think they changed her last name because they wanted to remind viewers that she and Nicole were sisters.

    • I also wanted to say that my middle school years were spent in eastern Massachusetts, near Boston, where some of those towns are naturally gothic and a bit witchy (and not just the original Salem lol). I was part of a Catholic family and there were a big Irish Catholic presence where I grew up, but my mom was foreign (French), and so we weren't as closely embraced in that community where people had long generational ties to the area. So I got to observe a lot about how these communities hummed. There were cultures of silence and unspoken little scandals. The Catholic aspect always held an element of karma or superstition! And it was cold and icy winter conditions for about 4-5 months of the year. For these reasons, Days during Reilly's run resonated with me, and I felt like he understood the soul of a place like the one I lived in. His last name certainly made me wonder if he came from there. And given that he lived a somewhat-hermit-like existence (long winters do that to you) with a close friend, an ex-priest, I often wondered if he was writing from New England and somewhat immersed in that world.
    • Andy said on his radio show that Adriana is a friend because they didn't want to have too many housewives. That is stupid IMO because 7 would've been fine. He said she's in every episode and will seem full time and from the trailer she's giving more than some of the mojito holders. Just an odd, odd move. I also find all the Marysol to be odd since she's also a friend. Marysol also seems more interesting than she was before.    I was convinced it was going to be terrible based on the lack of promo, but the RHOC premiere was the best opening episode for any of the shows that premiered this year. I feel like most have a big hook to draw you in, but it takes weeks to get there as we saw with RHOBH and RHOSLC. With OC, it kicked off right away. They did everything right. They reintroduced Heather, gave us house porn and a proper update on her family and life. Then they got us all caught up on Emily and Gina and gradually introduced the newbies. This all led to whispers of a secret and they left us with a great cliffhanger! No "wait 10 episodes for the drama to start," they literally just gave it to us. I thought everybody brought it and I think RHOC is going to have a good season.
    • Couldn't have said it better myself @titan1978. Reilly's run during most of the first half of the 90s was Must Watch TV. I used to watch with friends and almost every episode (especially the Friday cliff-hangers) gave us goose bumps while watching, there was so much going on and they were so exciting. And I'm not talking cheap-thrills exciting, I'm talking Sami going from problem child to villainess, Marlena and John struggling with their attraction to each other (which FYI had been established for at least two years before the incident on John's private jet!). People's relationships with each other across the cast of characters were being fleshed out with care, hitting all the marks, never rushed, but you always felt there was momentum in these relationships and you didn't always know where they were going. Reilly was invested in this gothicky little town of Salem -- where most scenes seemed to take place after sundown (!!) -- and the denizens. He clearly loved writing for Marlena and her torment as she tried to do the right thing while staying honest with herself, but I never felt the other characters were shortchanged. And Reilly really painted a picture of a community, with all the age groups represented. I have such happy memories of Days during this time -- a golden age for soaps in general, IMO, because TPTB put in the effort and seemed to care about the stories and characters. Like on Days TPTB seemed caught up in the whirl and excitement of certain SLs the way the viewers did.
    • Love of Life Dr Brett (minister who married Vanessa and Paul Raven) Jack Davis 1954 You have him as marrying Van and Bruce, which may have been the case. Gloria Gloria Hamilton She was singer at Hal Craig and Meg's supper club.
    • Esme/Nik would be hilarious. The thought had never occurred to me, but I'm not against it. Anything would be more interesting than her pointlessly standing around in all of Spencer's scenes.
