I just want to know who has their favourite Disaster Stories in US/UK/Aus/Other soaps and which ones do you strongly dislike.

they did that story twice

GL's first blackout was very well done because it generated so many new stories and created so many dramatic situations: Nick running to the church to find Mindy had skipped off on their wedding; Blake & Ross get together; Jenna and little Michelle trapped in the elevator; Roger & Maureen; Ed & Lillian; Eleni trapped in the freezer.

My favorite Disaster SL's are pretty much all from Passions:

The Prom Boat Disaster

The Mineshaft

The Hell in Harmony

The Hurricane in Bermuda/Harmony

The Tsaumi

Best disaster story ever

The one thing I didn't like about the AMC tornado was getting rid of the Martin house... they should've been the one set that always stayed on AMC, it gave it kind of a homey feel.

SFT The Flood - very well staged and signified a change for the better.

SB - Earthquake -literally shook things up and eliminated a few characters from a crowded canvas plus led to more story.

CITY's bombing of the City Bar was pretty good as well.

Both have done Bush fires a few times (after all Bush fires are an almost annual event in parts of Australia), Home and Away's most significant bush fire was in 1995, while Neighbours' most significant was in 2008.

The 2008 tornado was really good for a daytime soap, but I'm not a fan of CGI. When I watch the '94 tornado, it seems so real.

Other than those, the plane crash that "killed" Maria good; as was the explosion at Holidays.
