Guest dc cubs
This week's issue of Soap Opera Digest features an interview with Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) of The Young and the Restless. Here are some critical things she had to say about the writing for her character. Cooper did have some positive things to say about Y&R and her character too but that's not as fun as reading her criticism.
Members lovely_m
Will she be going on vacation anytime soon?
Members EastMA2
Gotta love her! She's not there to serve rice pudding? LOL. You go Jeanne!
Members dm.
She's not a minority, so I doubt it. But you know what? She just might. Anyone that crosses the almighty Maria shall be punished!
Members lovely_m
I'm actually a little annoyed that she spoke out simply because compared to some of her costars she has it good. Really good. Her character has almost become the female Victor Newman.
Members MichaelGL
More like anyone that crosses the almighty Paul Rauch shall be punished. I think the same goes for Hogan Sheffer too.

Members soapfan770
Not to mention that Katherine has been transformed from the cold queen living in the manor on the hill into the beloved matriarch who flies helicopters and digs through garbage dumps. Look now for Katherine to have her umpteenth stroke and be shamelessly carted off to the old folks home.

Members Mr. Vixen
If she makes any more comments about MAB, she'll be headed for a permanent one. I love Jeanne and I'm glad she's speaking out. The last time Katherine had a scene that was Katherine-esque was when Liz.
Members MontyB
She has? Wow, I don't see that all all. I completely agree that her story with Tucker has gone nowhere, but this has been typical of the #1 rated show for a long while. Go figure. Members bellcurve
Well this is something Granny Cooper could have mitigated or spoken out about long ago. What did she expect? Kay is a one-dimensional grandma, Genoa Salami's answer to Alice Horton. Everytime Granny Cooper gets on her soapbox to preach to Jill, Tucker, Lauren, Neil, etc., I just want Brock to come in and cart her old ass off to the nursing home. She should have went out while she was on top and had "heavenly appearances" every once awhile instead of being reduced to this patron saint, this old senile woman living with a man who is one step away from wearing Depends. What kind of story does she want? She can't have a January-December romance with Daniel or nuNoah. She's not young enough or sexy enough to do that. Maybe Maria can call Mel Harris to play nuKatherine in a shocking twist of reincarnation and spiritual possession.

Members Y&RWorldTurner
At least someone with some stature at the show spoke out about the horrible writing...
