The comedic terminology :P is spit-take, that has no bearing on it being spontaneous or planned.

Which makes a it a pre-meditated spit-take.

No.

It makes it a blatantly racist action solely done to provoke & humiliate.

[Gigly Heffa]BUTTTTTT MIIIIIIIII DOTTERRRRRRRRRRR SPITZZZZZZZZZZZZ A LAUTTTTTTTTTTT.[/Gigly Heffa]

So does Xenu. :lol::ph34r:

To the average viewer, that would look scripted and a natural response from Phyllis, who is just learning of Dru's new job.

But it wouldn't cause that's NOT how their relationship worked.

Would it have worked for Giggly Heffa & Diane? Yes.

Would it have been anymore acceptable or any less disgusting? No.

In this clip the actor gets water spit in his face, whereas Phyllis spit on Dru's coat. I'd take the Y&R scene over the Golden Girls clip if I were an actor in that scene, as long as I was aware of this happening before it did.

That, only Michelle knows for sure, but a provoking, humiliating, disrespectful act (unless you are a totally ignorant and oblivious person), yeah, I agree.

An actor should never ad-lib a spit take or spitting on another actor. Elizabeth Hubbard said in an interview that she wanted to ad-lib spitting on an actor for a scene, but clearly stated that she asked the actor first. That's how professionals do it.

I agree with Quartermainefan... I think any charges leveled of pay disparity are something that can be easily proven, so i'd be interested to know if this is really true, or if she's just blowing smoke up our asses like she does when she claims the show went to number one after she came on it. If she's pissed because Melody makes more than her, she'd have to deal with that, because Melody has 12 years seniority over her.

as long as I was aware of this happening before it did.

Which makes all the difference.

It wasn't in the script nor was it an "acting choice" which is how it was presented after the fact in an attempt to make it acceptable.
