The cast and crew packed into the Brooklyn soundstages of CBS' As the World Turns on June 23 to watch longtime stars Don Hastings (left) and Kathryn Hays tape the last scene of the soap's 13,858th — and final — episode. (After 54 years on the air, the series signs off Sept. 17.) ''It's like we did that scene with everyone's arms around us,'' recalls a choked-up Hays, who has played matriarch Kim Hughes since 1972. ''It was absolutely incredible.'' —Lynette Rice
Members Eric83
I never had the attachment to this show that I had with GL, but that picture already has me a little choked up. Another one of my childhood soaps gone.....

Members Soapsuds
The scene should have been in their living room...of course that no longer exists.

Members Mr. Vixen
I've never been a faithful ATWT viewer, but I've been a sporadic one for some time. Very sad
Members Kendall
This is truly the end of an era. The comany that started soap operas will no longer have any soaps on air after sept 17.
Members P.J.
No one likes their cornflakes pissed on. I know AnnSS doesn't GAS about ATWT, and probably soaps in general, since she takes every opportunity to tell us the end is coming....but DAMN show a little class in a thread featuring a picture of the LAST scene, featuring Bob and Kim. Members Ann_SS
Class over a soap opera? LOL! Ah, the delusion of some soap fans. Oh look, large caps and bold.
Members marceline
That's a sweet picture. Something about it reminds me of SFT's final scene.
Members P.J.
No, sweetheart, CLASS for two respected performers. Not that you would get THAT. Funny how you constantly bitch and moan about this "rubbish", but you only stopped watching "a few weeks ago".
Members All My Shadows
It'll be a great scene, and I will most likely be a wreck. That globe If they fade to black on it as it turns... :(
